Soliodus, Skeeter, and central guys are you interested in Jennings?
I sound like a born again but you guys have to try at least 1 track day. Kind of like sex, after you do it once you and find out what it is like you need to do it again. beafer 02-03-2004, 08:53 PM Everytime i want to do one, some thing comes up. ME NEITHER scarabsport 02-04-2004, 08:00 AM Berk: Let's pick a date in March to do Jennings and then we can try to embarass some other guys to go, like telling them it's about time they take the training wheels off their 1s. I am real old and slow so I can't call them out but I bet you can.
As you know I like to go up Friday afternoon and drop the bike off at the track, then head back Sunday night.
I didn't recognize the little guy getting puked on. Is that somebody from the forum? Moto? Vince 02-04-2004, 08:18 AM What time is everything? I'm heading down from Gainesville for the weekend back to West Palm and I might check this out. I looked on the website and I couldnt find anything? Is it just an open track day or a ccs race? Cookinman 02-04-2004, 08:41 AM Scarab,
I would love to do a trac day. Not sure what all is involved ( it would be my first ) How do you prep your bike, do I NEED leathers, or can I do the minimal safety thing to see if I am gonna do this alot...
>>> gonna need to find a trailer..... Cookinman 02-04-2004, 08:53 AM Originally posted by beafer

Riding or Cage? scarabsport 02-04-2004, 01:29 PM Vince and Cookinman:
Moroso is Saturday, they usually want all riders there by about 7:30, first group goes out about 9 and then they keep rolling the three classes every 20 minutes.
Moroso on Saturday is Sportbiketracktime.com. Bike prep is easy, tape glass and lights, switch antfreeze to engine ice or water but most important is you need to have really good tires (i.e. tread depth). They will turn people away if tread is not real good but they usually also have a tire vendor there with pretty good prices if you don't pass. Antifreeze may not apply to basic group, and textile jackets may also be okay. Check sportbiketracktime website.
Same for Jennings GP, check out their website for details but prep is minimal.
Only CCS racing requires full race prep for the Bike.
None of the track preps require a trailer, Berk rode his R1 up to Moroso last time and then rode back to SB. You could do same for Jennings but it is 5 hours from WPB, 6 from Miami so that is too far for me to ride the bike up, plus if you break down on the track no way to get home. But lots of people ride their bikes to track days.
Lots of people also borrow flatbed trailers and load the bikes on them. I saw one once that had like 12 sportbikes on it heading to Jennings. I converted my jet ski trailer to carry either simply by putting a rail in the middle between the bunks. Worked great.
First time is painless. They first have a meeting on flags and rules and then lead everyone slowly around the track to find the lines and get relaxed. Then pick up the pace slowly and then sometime during the day let you rip if you want.
If at all interested for Saturday better sign up now if they have room, they will most likely close registration soon.
I am sure I am the slowest guy in the intermediate group but I have fun and even though slow I ride a lot quicker than I would ever dream of doing on the street. The general rule is if you are in front you hold your line and the fast guys have to find their way around you so no sweat getting in anyone's way. Whoooooossshhhh, there goes Berk! Cookinman 02-05-2004, 12:44 PM Scarab,
Thanks for thie info - It looks as if I may be going as a spectator this time.... I called yesterday and all the novice classes are filled. I might hit one of the Jennings days - I am doing the research now...
Is there any way to post this as a sticky for all who might wish to refer back to it. There is some good info here Scarab... Spanky R1 02-05-2004, 12:53 PM I will be doing Jennings 22-23 (Sun-Mon) Feb if the weather looks good. If you book before the Friday prior to the weekend its $190 for Sun/Mon. All you have to do is tape lights and remove mirrors. The track is awesome and its fun as hell. Let me know if any of you are going to be there.
Make sure you have good tires. 80% of the guys who went down the last time I was there were riding on marginal tires. OutlawR6 02-06-2004, 12:06 PM i'll be going tomarrow in my car, anybody else going by cage? maybe we can meet up and get a little road train going :p | |
