A boy has to do what a boy has to do. For me it is 5 hours each way to Jennings, well over 600 miles round trip, but it is well worth it. It is also a good excuse to go for two days.

500 miles round trip is barely more than my average Sunday canyon ride on the FZR

Gees and I complain about 30 miles... :p I have been considering a trip from Phoenix to Willow Springs or Laguna Seca for Keith Code's school though. I just hate straight highway riding. Boring with no twisties so I find myself going way too fast to keep my attention up.

How do you manage to keep the bike safe? Is it an enclosed trailer?

4 hours round trip is the furthest I generally travel, by the time you're home and the van's unloaded you're bolloxed! How far south can you make it in 2 1/2 hours?

From where I am I would'nt make the border in 2 1/2 hours.Croft is at least 200 miles and Oulten and Cadwell about 260

My personal best (worst?) is 14 hours and 980 miles one way. VIR is 760 miles round trip and I do that one about 5 or 6 times a year. Barber is 12 or 13 and will GLADLY make that trip in the near future. You Europeans and your tiny little countries are spoiled ;) :D

125 miles to the track we go to most often (Thunderhill). The one we go to the least is 225 miles (Buttonwillow). We just went to a new to us track that is about 30 miles away(Sears Point - Infineon.) No plans for Laguna this year.

I Agree re the roads in Scotland. Must ride a bike there sometime. D3 - One option time and wedge permitting - , take a few days off, drive bike down in VAN, stay over - say Admiral Romsey in Horcastle, do Cadwell full - two days back to back - then van it back. Unless you do the quick hit, fly and hire a track bike maybe. They do Track Days in Knockhill though, I'm sure - that's what an hour for you ? And a great ride cross country if you want ?:yesnod - Sod 500 miles :scared

How far do I go on a track day ? Well I normally go from the start (that's the bit at the front with all the other bikes on) to the end which is the same bit only this time all the bike are going along and then after a while some bloke start waving this black and white flag thing ! Then it all stops and they give me a massive cup and pour fizzy shit all over me,.

Kevo, GOOD NEWS ! Come on over, just spoke to Focused Events (http://www.focusedevents.com) about renting a bike and they said no problemo Just need a Full bike licence and a deposit. Stick you're lid, leathers etc in you're luggage and yeahhh. Contact them for futher details.... Or as D3 days check out the UK trackdays site of a full list of dates The Focused Site has a list of tracks they do (most of them are covered) Would be great to see a US forum member over here. Just think... Silverstone - F1 track, Donington GP track, and all the WSB/BSB tracks etc etc etc I would recommend the double June date of the Silverstone GP - it's the F1 track. Big wide, VERY fast You could drive down from Yorkshire, (check out the scenery etc etc) do the two GP days, and then it's only an hour to London to see the sites, shopping/pamper session for the lady... Beers on me - let us know.. Below is a map I created to give you and idea of locations :D Tracks in the UK (http://www.bicknelle.com/download/trackdays in the uk.pdf) Summer is trackday heaven !!! Oh and the beer is great too :beer
