Ok. This has been asked countless times, but I wish to know from those who have the same year model bike or close to. I have 03 R1 with a Akro pipe. First gear wheelies I can ride out, pop it up and hold at anytime and I feel completely comfortable with it. I power it up from around 4 grand and have the throttle control down with it. But I keep riding them out once it hits redline, which is about 5- 6 seconds in the air at around 100kph or so. What I'm asking is do any of you power it up in second gear? And if so at what speed and rev do you do it at. I realize I can clutch or bounce it up, but I want to know if you can power it up as well, because so far I can find the right tech to bring it up in power in second. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I bounce it up around 6500rpm in second. Haven't really perfected it though. I bet the more experienced stunters can power it up.

If you rev til about 9000, let off then give it throttle again you could get it up in second (while sitting down), but it takes longer for the front wheel to get up to balance point. By the time you get to balance pt. you will be going pretty fast. If you are standing while in second, it should come up a lot easier than sitting down. I usually use the clutch in second because it gets the front wheel to balance point faster and you could ride wheelies out longer and slower. BE CAREFULL!!:thumbup

I use the on off way for sit downs.
I would get to about 6 to 7k and hit the gas and left off and hit it again and pull back just a little while giving it gas. For me the best way was to sit back in the seat as far as you can this will help with pulling it up. Sit back to the point of where you are touching the back seat. This worked for me and still does.

You guys should easily be able to bounce it up in 2nd. I just take practice and timing. I can bounce my R6 in 2nd and get it up a foot or two and I live in Colo. with high altitude. If you have an R1 you should easily be able to bounce it up in 2nd. It just takes practice. You will get it eventually.:thumbup

2nd gear about 40-50 mph bounce down, roll it up

If you are referring to 2nd gear sit-downs then you will have to bring the revs up to about 6-7K chop the throttle (quick off then right back on) while pulling slightly on the clip-ons. For a stand-up bring the revs up to about 5-6k bounce that puppy and while the forks are coming back up just chop the throttle. There are some great detailed how to's in this section, just use the search feature.
Good luck.
