Looking for Iowa Riders

Hey i'm looking to get in touch with some iowa riders. I'm new to the forum but not new to riding. I just got an r1 last fall so i switched from fzr archives to here. Just want to find some more potential people to ride with and maybe plan some weekend trips this summer to brainerd or wherever. Hope to hear from you soon, Clint

Hey Dutch54! I'm about 60 miles from you in HOG Sh$t town. That is Marshalltown. I was just down in Des Moines two weekends ago on the R1. I stopped over at Motorider over on Army Post to check out the shop. Guys were going through the bikes up here last summer. At least 4 or 5 were totaled. One kid lost about 6" out of his shin! Hey Iowan's! Well I rode my R1 to work today, OOOHHHHHH its nice out, Finally starting to be nice out!!! Well I'm in Oskaloosa and race in the Probike class at Eddyville Raceway if your ever down there, I'm on the Black/Red slammed R1 that'll make your head turn I'm sure!!! I'm Des Moines on Saturday nights sometime crusin the strip too.....See ya round!!! Eric

:thumbup I'm not in Iowa but i'm like 15 minutes away. Sioux Falls, South Dakota is where I'm located. It sucks but the bike can take me anywhere.

Webster City, Fort Dodge area here. Will be in Ames on the 24th.. But will be dropping off the bike at the local yamaha shop for some much needed work. Hey I will be at the dealer on Monday too, gotta get my new one. I was wondering why you choose Ames over Ft. Dodge to have your work done? Moose

Time frame on getting it done was my main reason. I know everyone at all the shops in Fortdodge they are a great bunch of guys. But they are also totaly swamped. And as this is a project I would like to get done asap. I went with the first shop that has certified yamaha mechanics. And can get it done the fastest.

Did you get the red one? They were warming up a red 04 when i got there. that was a nice bike. Almost made me want to sell all my bikes and get a new one. I am missing the R1 now though. The nice days before the weekend of rain. I picked the wrong week to take it in i think. Guess i will have to go play in the dirt.

Hey Moose, Do you ride at porky's on thursday nights. I saw a guy on a red 04 r1 wearing a leather jacket that said moose on the sleeve. Is that you by chance? I was the dude in the red alpinestars shirt riding the custom flame painted r1. Hope to hear from ya. Clint

Clint, Well what would be the chances of there being another Moose in Des Moines with a custom Moose Jacket. Not real good, yeah that was me, me and my crew should be down this week again. I have to rally up the troops, the newbies up here don't know what they are missing out on. Although that week was kind of bland. wow good to see so many iowa riders. I live in okoboji which happens to be the coolest place in iowa during the summer. Im working on a r1 right now. im going to midamericamotoplex on sat to see if I can pick it up then or no. here in boji we have a pretty good scene lots of suzukis but its all good. Next time your up hit me up its pretty tough to miss the loop...loaded with bikers and hot chicks...can't go wrong unless you look at the cops wrong.

Im gonna try to do a sweep. Hit mam in the morning/early afternoon then run up to the twin citys to check out stbonis shop. Im wondering does mam do alot of preformance work as well? Can they dyno my bike and tune it up when needed?

To anyone near MASON CITY, Mason City Powersports is having a fun run on SUNDAY JUNE 13th. We're providing free food at 11am and then going riding through some area back roads. R1Budha will be here, I encourage anyone near to come and have some fun. Chad

There is a shop in Omaha that sponsors some racers that would be able to dyno and tune your bike though. http://www.cliffordcycles.com/

We do some sponsor stuff with him. He's a really nice guy. nickssho, if you're just in Ames, I think you should come. It would make a nice ride for ya.

Im a little confused. You say mam is just a track but they do sell bike correct. I have been to there webpage several times and talked to dustin on the phone. My friend got his r6 there. Also with the drags tomorow how long will they run. I wanted to get up and look at what they had of 04s then go check out the drags. is the track pretty much open run. I don't remember there being a track there. I used to go to humbolt when we raced the 68 and some in sd but don't remember sioux falls. Is it a quarter or 8th. Many bikes race?

I figured out what you were talking about. Im going to the sioux falls midamerican MOTO sports not motor in omaha. close name...pretty gay but they are trading out one of there red 04s for a blue one for me soo im ok with them. :)

The company I work for has a store in Mason City (Arbys) and we'll be working on another one in Clear Lake soon, so I'm sure I'll be up there often in the next couple of months. Where are the good roads around there?

There's a decent road the goes into the south side of Forest City that I like to take. Other than that there are no great sections of road that I know of outside of town other than sections of Hwy B-20

I was bored... I you live in ames and and are :cool: and want :boobies: then you will :riding with the squid patrol :bash Actually most of the roads near ames suck...but these are the better ones.

I have been working on one that will highlight the good roads from ft.dodge to iowa....because there are lots of squares and the twisty ones are hard to find

still working on it.... if you know of any I should highlight let me know btw the original bmp is like 100megs so far...

Where did you get that map, and how are you highlighting it? I wouldn't mind making one of for the Loess Hills twisties here in Western Iowa.

There are some good twistie roads between fortdodge and webster City. Near the brushy creek area. I ride um all the time. I will go out tonight and get the road names and post them there are like 20 ways to ride them. I will take the run to brushy and then Fortdodge. From there to Boone. and back to Webster City tonight .. I will post all road names so you can highlight them if you want.

Errki ...I have been cuting and pasting from yahoo maps, with my favorite paint program...mspaint! Fiber R1 that would be great!

OK here is the trip I took last night ... Was about 70 to 80 miles and only crossed the same road once. They have a lot of sweaping curves and hills with curves a few true twisties . Started out Webster City.. Beach street... it runs into 280th street. Followed it to R21, took R21 to stratford. From stratford took hwy175 to P73. Took P73 to lehigh. Took D43 from Lehigh to Dollover Park. Crused through the park. Took D33 to otho then coalville. Took Interstate Back to Union Ave Road south to Brushy Creek. Crused through Brushy Creek. Took D46 back to R21 Took it north to Highview and back to Webster City On old hwy20. Now this was a short version of what I do when i have a group of people riding with me .. But as I was alone and did it non stop I did the short run.. Later Nate

Later Nate Dontpntpool's brother lives in stratford, so we go up there all the time. he's on the corner of 175 and route 21, across from the old folks home. The one with the huge garage behind it. we gotta get together up there some time.....

I know the house you are talking about. I have cousins that live right down the block from there.. Yea I agree we should get together sometime soon. The roads along the river back up towards brushy from stratford are some of my favorite roads. And I will have the R1 back Friday so i can stop riding the 6r and the 919. " To bad i cant ride sat :( "Broke down and had the bike custom painted" The carbon fiber look was getting to me lol " So if you all figure out when you would like to meet up there i will work somthing out .
