take a look at this. I will be moving into a townhouse soon and it probably won't have access to a backyard for storage so I will probably be out front. http://www.propa-lok.com/Products.asp?Section=1

Those wheel locks look cool and all, but you really need to get a long cable from home depot and attach the bike to something also. as light as bikes are getting, it is really easy for 2 -3 guys to literaly just pick up your bike and toss it into a truck. When I lived in an apt, I rented a car port space, got a 20 foot cable, would leave the cable in the space and lock the rear wheel with the cable and a kryptonite lock. Also, get a decent cover for your bike, the less attention the bike brings on itself the better. You dont want it parked where anyone driving by from the main street can see it, other wise more people will see it as a potential target. remember you just need it to be harder to steal than soomeone elses bike. I also had one of the old scorpio alarms which worked reat, and I see the new one works even better, so it all really depends on how much you want to invest in security. The cables are less than 20 bucks though and are worth thier weight in gold. the alarms in around 300 for the really nice one, or just 100 bucks for a basic one, hell you can just jury rig a flashing led up by your instrument cluster to make it look like you have an alarm and that will throw off half the theives right there. Anyhow, good luck.

If you live on the first floor, roll that baby through the sliding glass door. hehe I wouldn't put the cable/chain through the rearwheel. They could take the wheel off and still haul off with it. I noticed that the swingarm has that loop on it. I'd string it through there before I'd do it through the rear wheel.

That box in the picture is bolted to the ground and the only way to unbolt it is to remove the bike.

As long as it's bolted to the ground, Is there anyway you can get one of those locks you put in fresh concrete, those are pretty good too. Don't forget to cover the bike as well, sounds cheesy but if they don't know exactly what's under there it's better than leaving your shiny new 04 bling bling out in the open for some punk to start scoping it. T.W.O is a british mag that has an pretty big article in it this month that addresses these very issues. They swiped a couple of bikes from the owners using four guys and a van, one bike was outside, cable lock only, one bike was in the locked garage, no locks on it, not even steering locked. The owners were home in all cases and bikes were "gone in 60 seconds on average, 5 minutes in the case of the garage. Sorry to be so long winded but they do have some pretty good ideas on locking our puppies up.

I agree with all of you, out of sight out of mind, and the harder you make it to steel the better. This is what I'd do. 1. http://www.bikebrace.com/index.html Combo # 5 (pic #5) 2. [http://www.kryptonitelock.com/ 2 of the New York Fahgettaboudit chains for the front and back tire. 3. [url]http://www.veo.com/Observer-Wireless/default.asp This is so that I can keep an eye on my baby from work. And take a picture of them to hand over to the cops. 4. http://www.scorpioalarms.com/ For when I'm home and just so that it can make alot of noise to scare them, and give some time to get a bat. 5. And maybe some rottweilers, but that will come later.

just park it out front, whats your address? Thats a joke, I hate thiefs!, I sunk a 3/4" concrete anchor into the curb, with a hardened steel 3/4" eyebolt, and I run a kryptonite new york chain through the swingarm and rear wheel. I think this year Im going to roll it in the basement most of the time, it takes about the same amount of time to do that , when you include putting the cover on and all. Good luck.
