Gap trip weekend of April 16th

Just wanted to throw it out there. Me, Earache, Kneedragger77, BKR1 are gonna do a weekend Gap trip the weekend of April 17th. Probably get there sometime on Friday the 16th and leave sunday morning the 18th. Anyone that wants to join us is more than welcome.:yesnod

Hey I'll be there bro. I'm arriving the 18th, and leaving the 24th. There is a group of us staying at Fontana, and Robbinsville. I've got a cabin at the village. *Edit* I see your leaving the 18th.:(

Yeah, there will be a few of us coming up just for the weekend.

FYI, we are gonna be staying at the Phillips Motel. www.phillipsmotelonline.com make reservations early for anyone that plans on joining us. The Phillips tends to fill up most weekends once the weather gets good.

Hey Pete if you get a bike and can make it we can ride together . I go right thru Greensboro to get to the gap . We can split some gas money that way . Me and Chad have an extra bed in our room as well . :riding So go get that bike !

Hi all I'd love to join the gang in April... Just put my deposit down yesterday on a blue '04, should be in this next week!! I'm in Knoxville. Got a spare bedroom and a fully stocked garage. Anyone need a place to stay let me know. Less than an hour from the overlook! Eric

Man I am nagging progressive so much right now its not funny, all I want is my bike and my money so I can rebuild it since I remembered I have a 1k deductable.:2bitchsla I have been calling everyday and their excuse is that their waiting on bids from salvage yards to give me their offer, they said they needed 3 bids, and its taken them a over a week now:mad: I could go around to 3 shops in a day and get their bids for em...I'm really:fire :mad: :fire at my adjuster... :machinegu PROGRESSIVE:boom

That does suck. Progressive charges all that money you would think they would at least be quick in that process.

Chad so far noone in my area can or want to go this time around. So as much I really want to go I'm not going to ride solo down there and back. Need atleast a buddy to go with. I'll be there in June or sooner though Next time guys :( Have fun and be safe Mike

We normally go at least 4 times a year. I just love the area. Five guys from the shop went in October last year. Weather was perfect and the traffic wasnt too bad. I really need to get a shorter wheelbase machine for Deals Gap. 58.5" is alot to wrestle through those curves. However, it makes for a nice ride on the Skyway. Kevin info@mrcycles.com

We did 5 trips last year ourselves. I just love being up in that area. The whole area is so nice. And so many good roads and good people. I am sure we will do at least 5 trips this year, maybe more. And even when it is really crowded up there you can hit some other roads other than the Gap and pretty much have them to yourself. Then hit the Gap in the early morning or evening or at night and you will have it to yourself too.

I know you are in Atlanta. One of our tech's just got hired by GMD Computrac. He turned his notice in today and starts the in two weeks. Just another reason to take a trip there. Kevin info@mrcycles.com

Possibly count me in and 2 other friends we've been talking about doing the drive down from NJ sometime between April to June. So it just might end up being one of the weekends you guys are down there... I never been there so should be exciting. I'll keep you posted, whenever we decide on date. Steve

gawarrior Thanks for that thread but I read that one before I actually saw this one that's what got me amp'd cause depending on my friends schedule that will determine when we go. Unless I link up with some other forum members closer to me and do the trip with them. But I'm defiantly coming to one of the two....even if that means solo appreciate the reply

Cool. It would be cool to ride with you whenever. THe april trip is a quick weekend trip. But the June trip is the Macdaddy. But any chance to go and ride the Gap is good.

i hear you on that .. i saw someone posted a video driving threw gap sick , hes wasn't even pushing hard but just the twists and the footage he captured going threw there just gets you open.. Cool we'll hook up soon then...

Sounds good. The Gap is unbelievably fun and challenging at pretty much any speed.

I'm not sure, I didn't do the planning but Im pretty sure we are staying at the Deal gap resort. We are coming in motorhome so it will be a campground somewhere. I'm pretty sure we will pass each other a few times during the week. So if you get passed by an 04 R1 :p in the same outfit as my avatar. That'll be me.

I got rained out this weekend and have to work next weekend :( Crankshaft I live in Morristown and we need to get together and do some riding this summer. I had a great idea...How about we get some of those "I AM..." stickers and put both your forum name & real name on it and place the sticker on the windscreens? Just a thought for these kind of meetings.

Just a little heads up for anyone joining us this weekend. Me, Earache, Kneedragger77,2nd time, and D Brasco are planning on heading out of Robbinsville about 9:30am on Friday morning from the Phillips Motel to do a Georgia loop. Anyone who wants to join us be at the Phillips Motel in Robbinsville no later than 9:30am. Me and D Brasco should be rolling in about then and unloading, throwing our stuff in the room and jumping on the bikes and riding. We should be getting back to Robbisville sometime that evening.

I'll be leaving Thursday after work, so around 6 or 7 if not sooner. So 10 hours to Columbia S.C. puts us up there around 4 or 5 in the morning if we don't get tired and stop. Drop the wife off, get some rest and about another 6 hours up there. So depends on how tired I am and how much I sleep. I also have 2 hand helds with mic's that I got for like $60 total that are good up to 10 miles, good for when the wife or whoever is in a cage or somewhere and needs to communicate while I'm on the bike, or just walking around. Tried to look up the frequencies to compare on the X2 and X1 but remembered I had to do my state taxes.

Hey Matt and Eric, there will actually be a friend of mine with us on a blue 04 R1 too:lol Anyway, We are leaving Robbinsville friday morning around 9:30am to do a N. Ga loop. SHould be back by friday evening. Matt you should swing down to Robbinsville when you get in. We are staying at the Phillips Motel. Very easy to get to. There is a big Billboard on your left as you are coming into robbisville from the Gap with an arrow pointing to it. It is a high probablity that we will be doing a midnite run Friday night too. But will most definately be heading up to the Gap Sat. morning. See you there. Chad BTW, My bike is all black with #570 on the tail section.

Dragon129, I will be on the lookout for you also. I do have to swing by Fontana Sat. morning to make sure of some things for the Convention on the way up to the Gap. Shouldn't take long then I will be there.

Unforetunately I will not arrive until fri night so I got to ride while I can , so no booze for me , night run fri and sat night , all day sat wherever , hopefully a 3 or 4 hr ride early sun , at a turtle pace of course !:D

Eric Eric, Saturday we will hit the Gap and maybe some of the surronding areas. Probably do another midnite run sat night too. Once we get on the Gap it will warm right up:D But we can play it by ear to see how we feel.

I am trailering from Raleigh , takes 5 and 1/2 to 6 hrs from here . i save the riding for the mtns, to old and tired to ride 6 hrs of I-40 !:( :lol
