Few pics from trackday at Barber

Me and several other guys from here did a trackday with Nesba yesterday at Barber. I got a few pics, sorry I didn't get any action photos. Maybe some others did. It was an awesome day!! Got to ride with some fellow forum members. And I even me and 2nd time both got bumped up to intermidiate too:jump :jump :jump can't wait for Road Atlanta. I am sure some of the others will post some pics too.

What had an absolute blast!! The track was perfect:yesnod When your knee would touch down it was almost like it was sliding on glass.

NIce pics chad, did you stay to watch the races?? A buddy of mine was racing his 98 R1 there this weekend.

BTW, how'd the supercorsa's work out four you?

How's the new track surface? I'll be there in a month for a Porsche DE weekend.

Pete, I didn't even know they we racing there this weekend. I guess that is why they did a friday and saturday instead of saturday and sunday. And the SC's are freaking awesome!!! I may never go back.:lol The track surface is unbelievable! It is so smooth. There are a just a couple of places that you feel some slight bumps but you probably won't notice until a few times around. No patches that I remember.

02R1guy im near the George washington Bridge/ NJ ...i would def. be down to meet up for some track days or even just a whip around.. we're not to far from one another... later steve

I forgot to ask, were there a lotta ducs at barber? If so, how were they faring against the japs? I found a killer deal on a 996 but I don't know if I'd miss the extra 20 horses from my one.:dunno

Awesome Ga, just awesome. I'm about a 5 hour drive from Barber and would love to do a trackday when I get my 04. So what all do I need to do to do a track day? Also, me and some friends are going to Talladega next month, you should stop in and camp with us, we always have a great time. Ian

i just got home. cool pics chad. i got a few pictures but i'll have to resize them before i can post em. anyone that has never done a trackday doesn't know what they are missing. this was my first and i'm hooked.

Ian Just let me know. I will try and come hang out will ya'll. As far as getting things together for a trackday. Not too much to do really. www.nesba.com is who I do mine through, but www.sportbiketracktime.com also is good. And all pretty much require the same things. Full leathers, leather gloves, over the ankle leather boots. As far as bike prep, the minimum is disconnect all lights and blinkers and tape them all up or remove them and remover mirrors. And make sure all nuts and bolts are good and tight. They like you to safety wire and use water wetter or just water in the radiator, but is not required in the beginner and intemediate classes. That is pretty much it. Come on and join us they are an absolute blast!! Got some more pics I can post now too.

Check it out, we'll be at the track from the 23rd to the 26th. Thats talladega NASCAR track, not Barber. We'll be camping in the pop-up camper I just bought and will be grilling out and what not. Call me at 901-351-4764 and I'll tell you how to get to our camp site. There will be about 100,000 campers so you will need directions for sure. If you'll check in with me the day or so before you come and tell me when to expect, we'll throw a steak and tater on the grill. Sound good? Ian

My bad, I thought you were talking about Talledega Gran Prix track. It's a motorcycle track over there. I will see what I can do. I will call you if I am able to come over there, it would be cool!

If you've never been to the races there you should go, its really awesome. The cars running 195 and literally bumping on each other is intense because when the shit hits the fan, it really hits the fan. Ian

I am in the process of possibly buying a house. If they don't accept the latest offer I put then I may try and make it over there with ya'll. If they do, I guess I am gonna have to watch the :dollar a little closer. :( I am sort of hoping that they don't accept. Just have to see.

"hoping they don't accept", thats odd. We'll buy our tickets from a scalper on Saturday. We always get them for less than face value from scalpers. By the way, how many guys at the track use our stands other than you? And how many don't have stands at all? Should I show up to a trackday with 20 to sell? And how are they working for you? I'll be glad to buy your ticket on Sat. (for the race on Sun) if you wish but we'd have to figure some sort of agreement out. What tires do you use on track? Do you have special tires for track days?

My Boyz from MD/DC/Baltimore said wassup.. and the one guy "Juice" on the red/black/gray gix750 #261 in your pictures.. said that you gotta step it up man.. he said he was lapping you during the second session of the day.. *lol* He got bumped up to "I" with your boy Eddie (the cowboy hat dude on the 900RR) but lowsided around 130mph and broke his arm.. Its all good though, he said he'll be back.. and maybe next time when my dollars are right.. ill be able to come out and play.. who knows.. maybe even Road Atlanta May 22-25th.. :0)

BTW, I did get bumped up to intermediate at the end of the day. If your bud was lapping me in the second session it might have been because there was nearly 80 something people with the intro riders. I kept getting caught in traffic and control riders wouldn't wave me by. But it was cool, because the rest of the day I got out front and pretty much had the track all to my self for the rest of the sessions. :rock So it worked out good. Tell your bud I said I hope he heals up soon and gets back out there.

dzone had a neat camera setup. he uses remote mounted bullet cameras hooked to a tank and rear mounted camcorder. I can't wait to see some of the video

Barber is really a nice, top notch setup from A to Z. I can't wait til next time.

daekwon, You must be referring to one of the three of us that got bumped up together to Intermediate. I saw that he wrecked but never found out how he was. I hate he went down and worse that he got hurt. if you know him, tell him I said take care, get healed up and come on back out. Eddie

It was nice to meet you guys at Barber. I met Eddie and the guy with the 600rr. Gawarrior and his boy started passing us on the first lap on yellow flags, lol. I was like "These guys are serious". I have a broken arm, and I may need surgery. I will hopefully find out tomorrow. I had a great time and I would change a thing. Hopefully, I will be ready for ATL. thats me on the black 600rr, battling it out with a guy on an 02 r1!!! i think he won this round!!:mad: it was a great day though and i was able to set up and get by several guys during the day. its a little harder in the beginner group as we can only pass in the straights. next track day i'm moving over to the left lane on the grid, which is the faster group "within" the group. the control riders set the pace a little faster when you line up on the left side of the grid. its a great way to "move up" within the class without the instant pressure of moving up to the next class. once your comfortable at that pace, you can then asked for an evaluation ( where the control riders follow you and watch you to see if your ready for the next class. ga warrior was fast from the get go and i knew he would get bumped by the end of the day!! congrats bro!!!

The reason for the pave is the Porsche experience was tearing up the asphalt in the turns... The new surface is green..and it is smooth under your knee and/or to look at.....but look out!!! There are several places that small ripples come through the bars that were NOT there last year!!! Many people noticed when I was there w/MARMO a few weeks back. Everyone thought they lost a wheel weight or their front tire was bad.....:rant :dunno I just don't get why all that money can't get the damn job done right!!!

I agree with you. There are definately spots that feel that way. But overall I thought it was pretty good.

wait i have to agree though, i thought my wheel was about to come off or something until someone mention the same thing at the track ummmmmmmmmm its like a mini bumps in the straights
