What's the best way to wheelie in 3rd gear from a sitting position? And, what's the best way to wheelie in 3rd gear in a standing position? Speeds & RPM's would be appreciated. Also to clutch or not to clutch? Anyone with some good personal experiences that worked for them please chime in. thanks:confused:

:D Just get it up in 1st then change through the gears while it is up. Standing or sitting it dosent matter. :lol :lol
I find the easiest way in 3rd is to stand it up at about 100 to 120kph. I just use the bounce method and control it with the throttle once the balance point has been reached.
I find that to do a sit down from 3rd I need to have about 140-150kph on the speedo. and then i just slip the clutch while giving it a few more rpm(say 3kor 4k more rpm) and the softley she comes up.
Oh yeah my bike has the standard gearing.
I found that when i was learning it was eaiser to learn with someone else riding with you, as then you can see at what speeds they bring it up. To use as a guide.
Hope this helps.
Cheers and take small steps. Its all comes with practice. Just cause this works for me dosent mean that it will be the same for everyone.:thumbup

Anywhere from 100km/h to 200km/h.
Bounce it up. always.
Don't tare it up with the clutch without bouncing. You'll ruin your clutch fast.
I also got standard gearing. No need to gear the R1. It wheelies sick anyway.
Only gear it if you want to do more advanced stunts.
Check out my video here.
In the middle of it somewhere I come from the left and had just let the front down.. I just gave more throttle and a light pull and it came up on power in 3rd gear (due to suspension retracting and extracting on the way up)

Thanks for your input guys. I would have responded sooner but this damned email notification thingy don't work :cryin Shit, the kph is throwin me.. heh, I've been trying to bounce it up in 3rd while rollin' on, no luck, but I've been doing it @ 75-85mph starting point, guess I need to be going a little faster? I agree with the gearing philosophy, this bike-no need. It clutches very easily for me in 2nd. The shifting on the fly (while front's in the air) is a bit difficult, I can't seem to go through the gears while doing a wheelie. Someone told me 'no clutch' just keep pressure on the shifter and it will 'pop' in? I dunno, looks like more expirementation is needed. God I love this section, thanks for the input, gives me a little more to work with.
