You will need to go get a motorcycle endorsement. I believe in florida, you are required to take the MSF course if you under 21. Either way, the best thing to do is take a MSF course available all over miami. They range in prices from 100-250. Check your yellow pages for available msf places locally. And I hope you know what you are doing and your parents/gaurdian agree to this matter. http://www.msf-usa.org/index_new.cfm?spl=1&action=display_all&content=0DDA24DA-A0CC-53D5-64B11842065D9F5E&pagename=RiderCourse%20123%27s&state=Florida

If this is your first bike, you might wanna think about the zx-6. It is a little more heavy and forgiving than the R. Especially if ya F'up and grab a handfull of brake in the turn. R is a little twitchy and Strong willed. It is more " race - ready" . I love R's and own a one, but you will need to really take care in getting used to it for a first bike. Just my $.02 but good luck either way you will enjoy riding !!

my .02 Pyro - Don't know the answer for Florida requirements, but here is some of my advice that I wish someone would have discussed with me. The best shopping is for insurance... Find which bike you want and shop for the best insurance... My crew just got 9 bikes stolen from Miami, but thats spilled milk. The best advice I received before I bought my first bike - Theres two types of riders - The ones who've wrecked and the ones who are going to wreck.. So if this is the case.... YAMAHA is always the cheapest parts when fixing bikes. Kawi's - most expensive parts, best quality with Honda close 2nd. I have an 02 ZX6R, 02 ZX12R and an 04 R1. KAWI's are good bikes but expensive to fix. My opinion - Buy the new R1. It is super easy to ride and why get a lien for a 600... You start riding and one month later you kick yourself in the ass and say damn, I wish I would have bought a 1000. Just be careful on the throttle. I recommend putting new grips on the 1000 and snugging the fit so it isn't so responsive... Instructions in a PM if you want. I wouldn't save money by buying an 02 or 03 R1 for a first bike. MHO it takes more skill to ride and it is too sensitive for a new rider. Lastly, buy the coolest leather jacket you can afford, Dirtbike Gloves and a comfortable helmet. Alpinestars and JoeRocket are cool. With the jacket, your dealership will try to sell you a goofy jacket they have had setting on a shelf for years and charge you full price. Research your jacket and buy a good looking jacket that you can use on several different bikes. YOU WILL BUY A LOT OF BIKES IN YOUR LIFE... Buy a versitile jacket one size larger than you are now so you can use it for several years... The same advise for the helmet except buy one that is versitile with several bikes but get one that fits. I don't imagine your melon is growing much more.... DON'T FORGET THE GLOVES. Black Alpinestar gloves will work with a lot of different jacket schemes and should last two seasons or more. Be safe... and have fun... Unlike popular belief though, a bike won't help you get chicks if you can't get chicks now... So practice that before you get the bike. Don't want you to be disappointed. Rgds, and take the MSF

Get an R6, it's a ho lure... ;) :thumbup I got an R6 for my first bike and love it, know your limits though. You probably want to learn to use the clutch on something a little smaller.

The clutch is the same on all jap bikes. LET IT OUT SLOW and slowly twist the throttle.. Pick thy legs up son and put them on the pegs.
