Ouch!!!!!!!! that sucks, the only company I ever used was State Farm, but they were to expensive for me to insure my R1 this year. I hate to say it but you might not find a better deal. I thought it was only the other drivers in your house with their motorcycle license that effected your insurance?? Good luck, I wish I knew a better company for ya.

Sorry to say but State Farm seems to have the cheapest prices in all of Ontario. Just look at it this way... $3000 is A LOT better than $10,600

There is another place just doing motorcycles, J.D. Smith Ins. Call this guy, Robin Aldrich (motorcycle sheild plan manager) 1-800-917-7283. ext. 227. You can do a quote request online but I would just call. www.jdsmithinsurance.com/jds-motorcycle_quote1.htm Good luck. I've had my fare share of trouble with insurance this year, in fact I may only be riding on the track this year. :cryin Cheers Chris.

I don't understand why you guys have such ridiculous insurance rates. :no I've seen guys with good driving records paying out crazy amounts of money! I could be wrong, but you guys in Canada don't ride year-round, correct? If not, there's a discount right there. Married, another discount. Over 25...another discount. Other vehicles insured by the same company...another discount. Home Owner...another discount, etc. etc. etc. State Farm is by far the best company to have insurance with! I purchased a house on March 5, and my R1 insurance went from $22.00 per month to $14 per month, full coverage. That's damn near free! I love it!

Call everybody, use the internet, do something. There is no way I would pay that much. Don't be afraid to make changes. Put everything you have on one policy with a good company and you should be OK. SHOP AROUND!!!:beer :beer :beer :beer

I am with StateFarm for 12 years, cars, bike, and house. What is the deal with the Alarm, State Farm does not care about alarms because what good will it do you if they put it in the back of a truck and drive off. The new R! sucks (I ahve 1) for preventing theft. Think about it, you can remove the front seat and disconnect the alarm in 5 seconds without triggering the alarm due to the fact that the screw to remove the front seat is wide open. THEY HAVE TO GIVE YOU A QUOTE...it's the law. They will give you a crazy quote $10k because they do not want to write your business. Try using an agent in Barrie or further out of town. THey have a quota like system. Dam we are just getting ripped off and we don't have a way to fight back. Ride a 600...maybe that helps until you get older. Good Luck... Just a thought $10,400 for insurance for 12 months (6 riding) $10,000 fine IF you are caught with no insurance. I have insurance, but I can see alot of new riders take the chance and run from the cops...the danger is them getting hurt or innocent people getting hurt... I see they have not thought too much about some of these things. Bike Alarms...right, good thing we don't have car thefts anymore...and LoJack is still in business. I would not let them touch my bike either, most of them have a hard time wiring speakers. Ask the insurance company for the name of a CERTIFIED installer of theirs...they have lists. keep everything documented and send them a copy of the Certified install....if something blows up, they blame themselves and not you...you win, sue them for damage to your bike (hopefully not you)...you win again
