GREETINGS TO MY R1 BRETHREN.....

I plan on doing the Scorpio i500 install this Saturday morning. Looks easy, but would appreciate any pointers from accomplished installs so that I don't waste the tizyme. Ya Heard.

Hardest part is connecting the tail/turn signals. I pulled and relocated the start relay and installed the Scorpio box next to the ECU. I have a Dr X tailite kit and had to be creative with the connections for those signals.

I love the alarm. The proximity warning is great for those punk kids that never got taught any respect for other peo property and want to "just sit on it.." ... Then I said "Next time knock on my door and ask permission...this Kimber .45 pinched my hand when I jacked the shell ...well ... no ... I wasnt gona shoot ya... I was JUST GONA SHOOT IN THE AIR..." [ya right..]

Heres the harness

I'M PISSED!!!!!!!!!!

Used up three hours to install the scopio i500 for learning purposes I hope. After connecting everything I hear the chirps so I think ... "great, I'm almost there." When I try to arm it with the transceiver, nothing. Checked everything, nothing. Call the technical support bastard at Aritronix which is this conceited ass with a european type accent doing everthing he can to get me to hang up and figure it out myself! He says the problem is in my battery connection or fuse since I can't get this thing to chirp again. I changed the fuse just in case and tighten up the connections. Let it be known that my bike starts and all lights work perfectly while I diagnose this. But I can't get this thing to chirp again and I'm pissed. What to do? While I wait for your advice I will BBQ some chicken and check back later. ADD INFO...using factory harness YAM-6 on 03' R1 Thank You.:rant

Dubsack,
I plan on installing mine this week on an 03 R1.
This weekend was too nice weather wise to mess with the alarm instead of riding.

Check out the How-To by MotoFanatic:

Sorry to hear that man - I installed mine yesterday, and it went relatievely painlessly. Except for one of the )(*&)(*&)(* battery bolts that fell and rolled underneath the battery. This also showed me that there is no way of removing the battery on an 04 without removing the fuel tank, which means draining it of all fuel. Argh. Ended up just putting another bolt in :lol

The Scorpio does it's job flawlessly and the range on the transceiver is pretty decent. Have you tried the encoding procedure ? Maybe your transceiver lost it's code.

Hey guys Im trying to install mine on an 01 r1 and am having trouble with the anti hijack module. Which wire do I tap into on the 01 r1? I tried all 4 wires on the plug that goes to the stator and none worked. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks

Does the remote chirp when you set the alarm also? It should. Another thing to check is to see when you press the button to arm, that the little antenna symbol in the upper left is visable. That means that it is armed and in range or if you see the the lock symbol locked or unlocked.:dunno Check the groung wires.

I know the last thing to plug in is the power connector to the brain.

Do the lights flash? I know the first alarm brain I got was defective. You could barely hear the siren but the lights would flash. Hope this helps and you figure it out. After it gets solved you will be very happy.:fact

Make sure the tranciever isn't locked. I think you hold down the button on the side for until it beeps. Then try again...

this is what I was thinking as I inadvertently locked the remote by pressing button 4(on the side of the remote). I believe you have to hold button 4 for 2 seconds to unlock the remote. Otherwise check your connections and or reencode your remote. I found the remote frustrating at first, but after a good nights sleep, it all made sense. Good luck.

NEVER GIVE UP.

Turns out I have to take back what I said about our good tech support guy at Aritronix. After going through some tests of the install on the system for ten minutes with my test light and digital multimeter....we have a suspect MCM! The guy confirmed that the install was correct as can be and said he would send me out a new MCM today after all that was concluded. He says this is the "first time this has happened.":bs I have to doubt it just because. Told him we'd go through it together next time and connect the main harness last just as I did the first time. The transceiver has nothing to do with it since I don't even get an antenna signal, so what am I going to program it to. Basically the thing don't chirp for $&!T YA HEARD! I have to thank my R1 Brotherhood for your time and advice in my moment of frustration cause things like this aren't supposed to happen when you pay decent money for stuff. Right? So hopefully I'll be getting the girls to look this weekend with my beep-beep. Also, on the one and only chirps that I did hear when I connected the harness...it sounded like a warning chirp correct? It was very low. I mean, the balls out chirps you're supposed to get when the alarm is activated are louder than what I heard correct? Otherwise I'm going to have to do like that other forum member and install a louder siren. Will post with pogress. GRACIAS.

OK, I installed my Scorpio alarm last night on my 03 R1. (Thanks MotoFanatic for the How-To). It worked great last night but is was getting late and did not test everything. But alarm would arm/disarm and all flashers worked as indicated.

Now this morning I attempted to arm the system and it will not respond. I did a quick check as nothing was moved since last night as bike is kept in my garage. The battery is still good as I started the bike with no problems.

components:
- MCM
- Anti-hijack module
- perimter module

I haven't called Aritronix yet, just thought I would post here since this seems to have more information and better instruction than the manufacter.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I get home from work and hit the remote and the damn thing arms with no problem.... Arrrghhh!

Currently testing the unit.

Also found that my slip to the left rear signal was loose.

I hated removing the tail to access the bullets wiring for the Yam-6 connectors. Since there is a connector under the drivers seat, why not make a plug that plugs in there and bypass the bulllets all together?

 IT'S ALL GOOD

Recieved a replacement MCM the other day and proceeded to wire it up again. The system now works as indicated.:sneaky Hope it never gets put to a real "test." It was fun to see the anti-hijack work... with the bike idling of course. I mainly got the alarm so punk ass coworkers wouldn't put finger prints or try to sit on her. Does anyone know of some kind device or alarm that gives an electrical shock if you touch the bike? That would be cool. I'm just really protective and take it personal when you comment , touch , look at, or get close to the bike. The problem that we have here folks is haters. Dudes that don't know jack about two wheels throwin' they constructive cridithithim. Talkin' bout they want a Hayabusa when they can't even turn on and operate a 600:no Holla at a playa though!
