Okay late as usual , I did not see this thread so I will post this pic for the third time incase you guys missed it . Great to see everyone ! cant wait till the next time ! Thanks for taking pics Ned , this is the best one I have of me from the Gap ever ! It almost looks like I am going fast or something !:lol
KneeDragger77 04-18-2004, 08:21 PM chad, had a great time up there with you too! Cant wait for june. To all Gap hopefuls a bit of advice.
If you see a yellow ducati, or a flamed red/black R1 (aka: fast eddie) you had better get out of the way because those are 2 fast dudes! :yesnod
Guys, I consider myself a decent rider and can hold my own in the race group at the track with ease. However, I'd have to say I got the smack laid down on my candy ass by those 2 with ease. I remember wondering why am I pushing so hard and they keep getting farther and farther away? :D
I guess that goes to show you that you might think you are hot sh*t, but you cant mess with dudes that have 20 plus years of riding experience. I remember on 28 getting the best of Eric braking into a turn. I passed him going into the outside after finally getting close enough to make a move. Shoot, not 3 turns later I'm diving in hard and sweating bullets trying to keep ahead, and here comes the yellow duc pass me on the brakes like I'm stuck in cement :lol
Not to leave anyone out, Chad is a great rider too. Very smooth and controlled. I cant wait to do it all again in june. :thumbup
wonder140 04-18-2004, 08:23 PM Great pics!!!!!!Looks like you boys had a blast!!!!! :thumbup
KneeDragger77 04-18-2004, 08:23 PM having said all that, I'd invite eric to come to my world (the track) but I know that he knows he wouldnt stand a chance of an icecube in hell :lol
amazing how street and track riding are 2 totally different worlds
The scenery in this area is INCREDIBLE ! This dam was probably built in the 30's with very primitive tools by todays standards , very cool .

Just Super Corsa's - looks like a slick from that angle though. I'd bet the cops would give you a ticket for running slicks... just because they can ;)

I'd love to read a history on that damn ... know of any websites? I'd read or seen someplace that the Tapoco Lodge was the "dorm" for the workers that built that dam - know any more about it?

It's the Diet Mt. Dew - ya drink enough of it and you really, really have to go pee!
Gawarrior 04-18-2004, 08:47 PM Thanks Phil:D Eric and Eddie are some seriously fast dudes! Last year I could not even keep them in my sights, but this year I could at least meet back up with them before they could get their helmets off:lol I must be making a little progress. :D
Brian, you will have to hit Blood Mountain in Ga with us in June. Maybe we can make a trip down that way on the Thursday of the Convention. That way there will not be any Po Po. I know how you like the Po Po:D You will love Blood Mountain. We could head down early do a few runs up and over Blood Mountain and be back by mid afternoon. Just ask Phil how he liked Blood Mountain;)

Eric, I was reading one of those little signs at a pull off on the Cherohala yesterday and it was saying back in the 30's that where we were standing as far as you could see it was clear cutted. They had pictures of trees that were over a hundred years old and taller than the men cutting them with the tree on it's side:scared . Could you imagine looking out from a lookout on the Cherohala and seeing trees that size! Or what would be even more weird, to look out and see no trees.
Phil dont feel bad about Eddie and Eric leaving you , they do that to everyone ! Yea i will move the tag , dam TNHP ! :lol Actually , one bad thing always happens to me , if its a tag under tag ticket , Ill take it in advance !:lol :cryin :dollar

Stoddy, are you for sure making the trip in June? If so, I need to add you to the definates list and also get the $15 food money from you. You will love the Gap and surronding areas, just ride in your limits and you will be fine.

Were the State Troopers cruising thru the Gap or just in the pull offs?

Earache 04-19-2004, 09:56 AM I counted 12 Troopers / sheriff deputy - four cars were sitting at the Overlook, four more driving through the Gap and two sitting still. Also saw two Troopers on bikes riding in the Gap.
There was a chopper in the air as well.
Sucked.
KneeDragger77 04-19-2004, 10:03 AM didnt suck as bad as the guy and wife on the harley that we had to follow through for like 5 miles...

Yea that was strange huh? The skyway was cool but after a while its kind of boring ya know... I mean Eric and I probably carried an average speed of 80 to 100mph the whole time and it was just ok to me. Now hwy 28.... thats an awesome road:rock

Not as awesome as Blood Mountain though:rock. Ned PM'd me and suggested doing a trip down there soon. Maybe after the Convention. I will look into cabin prices there. You and Eric in?

We could stay in Highalnd, NC - cool town - and then take War Woman over to Helen / Suches. or even stay in Helen or Dahlonega (they have a couple of decent bar s within walking distance of the Holiday Inn Express).
The Franklin Hotel in Franklin (who'd have guessed?) is cheap and clean and is conveniently located between southern 28 and The Blood. A bar or two within walking distance.
Or maybe the Marietta Conference Center that I told you about - might be able to get some decent rates from the wifey.
I'll bring the ST down next time - it's faster than the Duc :D

I think most will respect those of us whose biggest concern is bringing body and self home in one peice. I am not out to impress anybody (not that I could anyway:lol ).
