O.K. I am a motorcycle mechanic, and I always check my stuff and keep a close eye on the bike. Last weekend we were tearing around pulling standups. We end up going down the interstate. I'm rolling about 75-80 mph.....drop it into second......stand-up and twist the throttle at the same time.....the bike comes up.....next thing I know the footpeg on the left side falls off(bolt vibrated out?)as my ass hits the seat I close the throttle and bring it down to a small tankslapper. Keep it under control.....thank you Lord! WTF? What just happened? I'm going home! That was a close call!
Oh, and another thing..
...I tried a no footed, one-handed endo. Didn't work out so well. Next thing I know my chest is up on the windshield, but at least I didn't drop the bike. Just be careful guys.....I want to meet some of you guys someday! LATERS.....:cool:WETPAVEMENT

how much do you wiegh???
I've found that if I don't replace those bolts every six months or so, they will bend then snap. I've had the left snap while in a wheelie and the right snap in an endo......... it is scary but I've saved em, each time..........

WET, I weigh more than you...(i'm not tellin':lol )....but I think the bolt vibrated out because right before that my shifter was acting up. I did not relate the two until afterwards, thinking about it. But I will guarantee you I will check them from now on. Many friends have been telling me how glad they were that I saved it. Just thought everbody might want to check them. Later

What happens is that the bolt vibrates out a little and
then your weight bends the bolt until it snaps.
Had this happen to couple of friends.

Uhhmmmm, yeah. I use it everyday. It was loctite'd from the factory. Loctite is no guarantee that it will stay tight. But thanks for asking!:lol

Hey folks, this is a common problem for stunters. It's happened to me & I've witnessed it happening to other stunters. If you do stoppies, wheelies, etc., it will likely happen to you too, eventually.
Before every ride, I check the following things:
Tire pressure
Chain tension
Rear tire position
Foot peg bolts (all of 'em, whether stock or aftermarket rearsets)
Clip-on bolts
Tripletree bearing slack
These checks take only a few seconds & could mean the difference between a fun ride or a hospital visit.
Ride safe...
