I was there with Canyonstrafers on April 12th and lowsided in turn 2 in the first session. Came out OK thanks for frame and clutch sliders. Was able to continue on for the rest of the day...
This pic was pretty cool...
I'm Signed up for Laguna with DP on May 27th and can't wait...:jump :jump
Yea I was there. That was the day I did that. Remember the big crash and ambulance in the A group session right after lunch. I was the dude. sorry about all the oil I spilled. The impact shattered the side case of my R1, as well as my damn foot and wrist. didn't you go down kind of in the same spot as I did early in the day? I guess I will treat that part of the track with more respect from now on.
Good to hear you got out with just a few scratches. I know now how much worse it could be from crashing.
4/12/04 = my $35,000 track day :rant

Yeah, man that sucks. Hope you heal up quick. BTW, I don't think it would've mattered what boots you had on the way you described the crash. Even Daytonas prolly wouldn't have helped. Jason Pridmore's shattered his ankles/feet numerous times with Hellimot Daytonas on...

Sucks, man. Get better quick.

check out the response I got back from a letter I sent to Alpinestar. All I am trying to get is my boot repaired or replaced. They sound defencive like I am asking for medical bill $ or somethin.
hahahahahahha

Thank you for your e-mail and for having contacted Alpinestars.

All Alpinestars boots are designed while keeping in mind 2 main goals: to minimise injury and to offer utmost comfort to our riders. Our products are developed together with the input and feedback we are given by some of the greatest riders and teams in the world, thereby continuously improving the quality and standard of our boots and apparel. We are sorry to hear of your accident, but we must stress that no boot or protective equipment can avoid all injuries, which sometimes can occur even at a low speed because of the angle at which the foot lands or hits something, or the leverage that may be applied to it.

Furthermore, we could like to add, that Alpinestars certifies its boots under the European Safety Certification standard “CE”. This is the only standard that exists in the world for motorcycle riding footwear, and Alpinestars exceeds it in all safety standards. Notwithstanding this, we would still like to look at the boots you crashed in, so please send them to us

I dunno. It reads to me as if they have a legitimant point. It seems to be a professional response to a legitimate question. Furthermore, it sounds as if they would like to examine your boots to see if the design could be improved upon. I hope you continue to have a speedy recovery.
And.... get a new pair of boots :thumbup

Damn that gives me tingles down my spine. Couple questions, did the bike land on your foot? Would some sturdy non folding rearsets might have helped, or did that happen when you were separated from your bike? Get well dude, the racetrack beckons.

No it didnt land on me. I highsided it. The bike flicked me in the air so hard that I flew like a bird for a good 3 seconds. It happened on in a turn at the peak of a hill too,so I got the enjoyment of flying all the way to the bottom. Talk about man wasn't intended to fly...... Bullshit we just don't land well :crash

I feel for you. I broke both my ankles at track day last year and was out of commision for 3 months. It wasnt nearly as bad as your accident but It was a PITA just the same.

oh BTW, I was wearing AP boots also. The soles ripped right off. Let me dig up the pics
