Now I know we have some tasty riders on this forum so I just want to know what percentage of you can scrape the pegs on your bike ?

I have recently got the hang of getting my knee down and have on a couple of occasions (when everything felt right) scraped the pegs too.......

So who else gets the sparks flying then ????

Any Monkey can twist a grip, it's stopping it and getting the thing through a corner that sorts the men from the boys.

GOD I LOVE THIS BIKE IT F*CKIN ROCKS

on the 2001 R1 it's pretty easy to scape the pegs. The pegs are positioned real low and even when you are hanging off, you can still wear down your pegs. The 02 is a diff. story.

I can scuff the knees, but I haven't been able to hit the pegs. Is it true that the pegs on an '02 are tougher to hit? I hope so. I thought I was the man when I could scrape my knees, :D . Now I have to scrape my pegs? Shit :( . Back to the drawing board.

I probably can, but I don't wanna.. While on track though I scraped both my foot and knee and the same time

I scraped the peg feeler once, and took em off after that. No sparks since then. I can't imagine how much further I'd have to lean to scrape the pegs now, with the feelers missing. Maybe this weekend I'll find out :D

My advice (worth less than 2 cents) is take the feelers off & don't worry about scraping the pegs.

If you do eventually start dragging the pegs, consider buying some aftermarket rearsets.

I've got some "Attack" rearsets & LOVE 'EM!!! These rearsets, coupled with Sportec M1's, equal great lean angles with nothing scraping (except pucks & boots).

Y2KRedR1: Hey man, I have the same setup. Attack rear sets and M1s :) GOOD LUCK dragging those pegs :lol I run RS1s on track though.

I originally got them after I crashed at Buttonwillow on turn #2 (I think... it's the off camber one). It's real bumpy going through there and my right peg (with feeler removed) dug into the ground and picked the ass-end of the bike up causing me to wash out. Thankfully it was on the slowest corner of the track.

I'm content now just getting my knee down. I'll drag my swing arm sliders if I'm a little too aggressive :)

I consider this a danger, not a challenge. I went to Deal's Gap a few months ago and I put considerable wear on my Alpinestar knee sliders, wore out the toe sliders on my boots and I ground the feelers flat on my pegs. I didn't like it too much when the feelers touched, but I don't think that there is much that I can do short of buying new rearsets. (Is there?) I could actually feel my bike being picked up by the feelers. This made for some cool video. You can literally see the white puff of dust and the white streak on the pavement. Sparks too on some occasions.

sure, relocating plates are inexpensive...and come with a longer rod too.

i hit the feeler on the right side on an 02 but thats it. i used to practice right handers on a clover leaf about 5 miles from my house. as a result im more comfortable with right hand turns. anyway i was riding and had it leaned over with knee just grazing and there was a big dip right on the apex and i hit the feeler for a sec when the suspension dropped. doesn mean much i guess but it can be done on an 02. i agree thats its not really something to shoot for as it can upset the suspension mid turn.......and thats not cool. just get some rearsets and forget about scraping the pegs :crash

Remove the feelers. I have noticed that the feelers cause much more suspension upsets due to their positioning than the actual pegs themselves.
