I just thought I might ask the question. Which tyre size do you guys and gals use at the rear ?

And dose it improve the bike ?

I like to run a 180 at the track since it turns in quicker than a 190

Agree with Twisted Logic, 180 makes the bike MUCH easier to handle. The guy that I bought my bike from had an 200 back tire because it looked nice.

The R1 was like a greyhound bus when it came to corners:D

Plus, in sweden most competition racers use 180 so you can get cheap tires when itīs race day!!

Depending on your riding style you might not notice a big difference on the street. Like Acid said a 190 look cooler so if you mainly do street riding a 190 would work. On a side note a 190 works better for wheelies for me,I guess cause of the wider surface

I use a 180 for road as well as track..

turn in is much easier, the look isn't that different, and race take-offs are really easy to come by at the track--like 50 a set :D

180 all day:rock
I have tried just about every tire out there and the best advice I can give is to go with a 180 pilot.

180's better than 190. Quicker turn in and larger contact patch when banked over because of the profile. Cheaper too. Grab a set of Bridgestone BT010's for the street...They're pretty great

A 180 section does DOES make the bike fell more nimble and smaller than it' 1 Litre would suggest. I find it better on the road and on the track.
I use a 180 section for both road and track now along with an Ohlins back end made a little higher to sharpen the steering even more....:butt

Most people seem to use the 180 for the same reason, quick turn in. But how dose a 180 offer more of a contact patch ?:)

It doesn't but the optimum tyre size is 180. Better Rubber at that size can male a whole lot of difference.

In addition, I have seen it writen many times that the 190 section is put onto new bikes for cosmetic purposes. It's what the customer wants to see!!

I use a 210 rear so I don't have to put my feet down when I stop :D
