New R1-no horsepower problems

Hey guys I got a problem,my new R1 seems to have a restricted power curve or have the timing retarded or someting wrong with it ,it will not even wheelie in 1st gear no matter how hard I try,the dealer told me some garbage that after the run in period the computer will automatically change into full operating HP, right now VESPA's can out run me and I am serious that hurts the ego ,there is no power what so ever.What am I to do?

when you say no power you mean like you get on it and it just putts along? Even at 7000 plus RPM's?? Take it back to the dealer if that's true.

yes man at 10 grand in first or second gear yank the trottle open an it wont even stand up it just leaps forward,i own a 02 R1 aswell and that one is way faster than this one,just had it at the dealer today one of the teck's quikly rode it and he said it was fine alsoi suggested to put it on a dino

I would take it back and tell them to fix the damn thing. I was able to pull it up at 5000 rpm in first sitting down with just a little bit of throttle and no clutching before the 500 mile mark. I am at 1300 miles now and it still comes up at 5000rpm in first and 2nd sitting down .

What have you been riding before this new 04 R1? I am 200 miles into my new 04 and I was suprised at the torque/power curve also. What I can tell you is that it takes a lot more rpm to get the wheel to float. Much more than my 900RR or my 99 R1. Today I brought it up in first (no clutch), shifted in air through 2nd and brought it down at 3rd. In reality it is better to have a bike stay down with the gas on if you want to run fast. Just not as good for stunts.

I still have my liquid sliver 02 R1 and its mutch faster as my current R1 I almost want to say my 02 in 2nd gear will out run my 04 in 1st ,thats how bad it feels
