: 1/4 mile times, what are you guys running???
oh2ah1 07-05-2002, 07:20 AM I ran my bike last night, just a C2 slip on & no Plll programer & ran a 10.706 @ 129 mph. This was with a kind of crappy launch. what is the fastest time someone has ran w/ a 2002 R1? I have read that they can pull 10.07 @144 out of the box. but, i can't ride that good!
now i need some mods. I have the need for speed.
:boobies
Maxxym 07-09-2002, 12:56 PM hhmm weird..I ran mine for the very first time and I got
11.6 at 129mph
I never did this before... it was my best time.
Stock bike, 99 with 10500 miles on it, LeoVince slip on
theron19d 07-09-2002, 01:09 PM Where did you run your bike? Was it in Epping? When are you going next?

Did you go to Thompson?
Maxxym 07-09-2002, 03:31 PM yup.. =) I was looking at some silver R1's and even ask few dudes if they ever went to R1-forum but they said no =(
It was my first time drag racing in my life.. I loved it...
fairorth 07-09-2002, 07:56 PM Dumb question from a guy who has never drag raced -- what gear are you in when you hit the 1/4 mile?
Are all gear changes made near redline?
Marc
Maxxym 07-09-2002, 07:59 PM well it was my first time ever, so I didn't know what the hell to do..
I would just start out from 1st of course, then open it up on 2nd gear and then 3rd....that would get me to the finish line
Stevied 07-10-2002, 04:13 PM Are you launching at high rpm's in 1st or slipping the clutch?
Maxxym 07-10-2002, 07:15 PM I would just rev the engine, keep it at lets say 5-6 grand with the clutch in and then when you see the last yellow light just let go the clutch. Just becarefull so you don't let go too fast or you will make a nice 12 oclock lol

IMHO the best drag mod is a tie down strap for the front end. It is inexpensive and will make the bike less wheelie prone. The challenge of drag (R1 especially) is getting the power to the ground. Pipe and PCIII all you want, but until you can keep the front down it will not make a real difference. I think one of the forum sponsors sells them.

R1ZOOM 07-12-2002, 07:44 AM I ran 11.4 on my R6 with just a Yoshi slip on, but haven't officially run the quarter yet on my R1
R WON 07-22-2002, 07:11 PM I RAN A 9.98 @ 140 MPH IN THE QUARTER THE OTHER NIGHT. I HAVE A FULL AKRAPOVIC & PC3R , 2 TEETH UP ON THE REAR. THE BIKE WAS LOWERED SOME, THE FRONT FORK STRAP IS WELL WORTH THE $20.
Dr. A 07-22-2002, 07:28 PM What exactly is a fork strap or tie down? You can't be referring to a tie down for hauling are you?
Dr. A:iamwithst
Maxxym 07-22-2002, 08:11 PM no...
those are straps that you use on the front forks to bring the front down.
go to www.tobefast.com and check it out.. they have them there
KNOUS1 07-22-2002, 08:15 PM My stock 2000 R1 lowered 1.25" front and back, made 125hp on dyno, stock gearing, 93 oct, ran 9.98 139mph first pass. By the way, it is for sale in the sell area.:p
Maxxym 07-22-2002, 10:08 PM I am going again this Sunday and I was wondering if I should try to start off the 2nd gear.. what do you guys think? My 60ft sucks because of the 1st gear (I am not good at launching her) but I think if I start out with 2nd gear it would help me a little..
any ideas??
oh yeah.. and I don't care about the clutch..
