For some reason unkown to me I drift to the right whenever I wheelie. I have to hang my left cheek off the seat to keep it somewhat straight. I didnt do it on my R6 but on my 954 and R1 I just seem to drift??? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Try putting more weight on the left footpeg.

Check so that your rear tire(rim) is aligned correctly. Check with the small lines on the rear arm. if it's a little off, the bike will pull to one side more than the other.. got this problem on my Mountain bike. Check tire preasure. Maybe you're fatter on one side of your body.

I just checked my Tire alignment. It's dead on. Tire preassure is good too. I'm always checking my tire preassure. So the onlything I can think of is that I must be fatter on the right side of my body:lol :lol :lol I'm going to try putting more weight on my left foot peg, although I've already tried that, but maybe I wasnt putting enough.;)

dude i have the exact same problem. most of the time i can hold the wheelie longer but i would fly off the right side of the road. some times i can bring it back left, but for the most part it always wants to go right. i checked allignment, and everything, just don't know what it is. my buddy on a 954 has the same problem too. I even checked it out while putting on my throttle lock and letting go of the handle bars, and it always wants to go right? no ideas here

I think I fixed my drifting problem. When I wheelie, I always look over the left side of the bike to see where I'm going. Well last night (Took my bike out for the first time after flushing the sand out) I wheelied, but I looked over the right side of the bike. Miraculously, the bike stayed straight. So I tried it again. It worked! Whoo Hoo! My wheelies are straight! Just a little advice, give it a try, if your having a problem drifting:cool:

Hey dudes, new to the forum. Just wanted to say that this shit is happening to me too and its pissin me off. This is the second R1 I've had. The first R1-no problem straight as a monks dick in a whore house. This one-perfect up until a month ago when all of a sudden the thing starts drifting to the left. I have inspected every mechanical part I could think would cause this to no avail. I am thinking its my wheelie style so I get on a mates GSXR and i have no probs he gets on mine and booohaaa drifts to the left. I know I can keep the wheelie going if i could keep it on the road instead of in the bushland. Heeeeeeeeeeelp pleeeeeeeasse. Joey

Same problem here...I'll have to try the tip about looking to the right, even though it seems that it would make it worse.

I FOUND THAT I PULLED TO THE RIGHT MOST OF THE TIME AS WELL. i FOUND MY SELF THAT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS PULLING DOWN ON THE THROTLE SIDE WHEN I WENT TO LIFT UP THE BIKE. MAKE A CONSOUS EFFORT TO NOT PULL OR TWIST ON THE THROTTLE SIDE AND ALSO TO PULL WITH YOUR LEFT HAND SOLVED MY PROBLEM AND GOT ME AN IMPRUDENT DRIVING. COP SAID IT WAS THE LONGEST WHEELIE HE HAD SEEN IN A WHILE!!!!:rock

I think you're right, b/c I can usually tell right from the lift off whether the bike is going to drift right or not. BTW, I got a careless and a reckless both in 3 weeks:( I'm ****ED, but it won't stop me from doing wheelies...this bike begs for 'em and they're addicting as hell:rock :rock

One thing I have found that works well, is if you turn the handlebars left or right it will steer the bike. Be careful and practice slowly. It seems to me the bike goes the opposite direction the wheel is turned. It might be different for other people, but that is what I have experienced. Goos luck and be safe! later.....

Hey dudes, Tried looking to the same side of the drift and low and behold....it worked. The slope of the road didn't even make a difference. The only thing I did find is that if I started to drift, I had to quickly shift my weight and head to the side of the drift early or I couldn't recover it and the drift would continue. I'm stoked and back in business. At one point I felt so in control that I could have taken a foot of the peg......... Scarey. Try it boys it works Joey God said to me " And on the seventh day Team Bionic R1, you shall wheelie" So I did..........

Hey guys, not sure if this is a cure, but it might that your chain adjustment bolts are not perfectly even on each side. Try adjusting those and let us know if it fixed it. :)

That's one of the first things I checked when I realized that there was a problem.:)

Yeah most two and undivided four lane roads are crowned to allow water to drain off. Try it down the center line :D . legal disclaimer: I do not take any responsibility for any loss or injury as a result of someone reading the above statement and actually trying it  .

Hey guys, I think i've sorted my problem... of all things, it was the bend in my legs and how far off the back I hung. I found that if I locked my legs straight and hung right back off the bike, then swung my head to the side I wanted to steer to, no problem. Today I pulled the biggest wheelie I've ever done. A mate was riding beside me and clocked the wheelie. From lift off to set down was 3.2 kilometres, and guess what, around two or three sweeping bends. **** man in the end I put it down cause I got tired.........:lol What a feeling, I was passing cars and looking at the drivers, they were freakin out. I think i got my mojo back Joey

check your chain tension, people have told me before their bikes would pull to one side if it was too loose or too tight

So when I'm standing, I staighten my legs and look to the left because I want to go left (and thus correct my right drift)?

hey porschenut, i did start to rectify the problem by setting my head to the side of the drift. So what I did is work out why this was fixing the problem and this is what I came up with: By tilting my head to the left ,the way I was drifting, I was inadvertantly tilting the bike to the right thus making the bike steer right. And vise versa with a right drift. So......I went one step further. On a stand up wheelie, i made absolutely sure on lift off that the bike came up straight. Thats very important otherwise it'd effect the overall performance of the wheelie. Then about a second after it came up, i'd feel the drift come on so I'd very quickly hang off the back of the bike(legs straight) and shifted my head, shoulders and arse over so that the bike tilted to the opposite side of the drift. (I know this contradicts what I earlier said about head on same side of drift, but it relates to the tilt of the bike going opposite to the drift) So what I eventually am doing now is throwing my weight to the side I want to steer to and making absolutely sure the bike leans with me. My mate who was behind me said he can see the bike begin leaning as I shift my weight in the direction I need to steer to. The feeling is similar to that leaning feeling you get when youre on two wheels, but your pulling hard backwards on the bars and to the side you need to steer. One more tip is get on a road that tilts the opposite way you drift so that you can come up and not immediately need to worry about drift, you can work on body position. Hope this helps brother......... Wheelie hard and fast Joey

I found that turning the wheel in the direction that you are drifting works every time, even while standing:rock However, I STILL can't stop the wobble the starts about 8-10 seconds into a standup:confused:

like nude rider says when it happens its always around 90-100 mph when i start getting the wobbles

Hey guys, Try this to get rid of those pesky wobbles. As soon as you take off, get ur pelvis and hips as far away from the tank (backwards of course) as you can. Get your arms and legs as straight as you can too. I found I would get the wobbles if I was too high and too close to the tank. You want to really hang off the back. It seems to put tension in the bike and alleviate the looseness in the bike that causes the wobbles. Try it Joey

I think you could be right. I've been locking my knees so that my legs are completely straight and I got a good mile in before any wobble started. A few guys said that my bike is near 90 degrees to the ground when doing stand ups:rock :rock :rock

That's awesome nude, You probably started wobbling cause you got tired or lost concentration momentarily enough for the wobble to start...:thumbup Joey
