Gregg's Signals with Clear LED's

Gregg's Customs

Hi All, A lot of you have asked for it. We are working on a clear lens version of our flush mount turn signals. I'm including some pictures of 2 prototypes that I am working on. One of them is of a clear lens with an amber "tint". The lens is not completely clear. The second example is a completely clear LED assembly. These lights contain 6 LED chips each just like our traditional diffused lens signals. Please respond to the poll and let me know what you think. We will continue to offer our current amber lens. The clear LED's are functional but have less forward visibility than the diffused lens.

Clear amber looks great, but can you put more LED's in them since you said they don't have great forward visibilty to make them brighter. I'll take a pair for sure. I think you should make both!!

These new clear LED's are still in the development phase. I was not happy with the brightness so I am waiting on a brighter sample. Realistically, these are at least 2 months away. I just want to give you all the best product. Please be sure and vote so I know what you guys want on your bikes.

By far the clear lens is the best. I think someone else was asking what the price would be. I am curious on that also. The others were a bit steep...but since they look :boobies its worth it.

Today I frosted the lens on the clear LED and I think it looks much nicer because you cannot see the internals. The frosted finish also widened the viewing angle. I'm going to continue to improve the clear lens up until we have it into production. The price will not be any less expensive than the amber version. My LED's have always had current limiting resistors built in to make them work in a 12 volt system. I've been looking into having the load increased to keep blinker speed normal.

go measure how much current the stock blinker is drawing. then measure how much current the led blinker is drawing. then u can determine the exact resistor u need to short to ground prior the led circuit. That should get your blinkers in sync again

I was going to purchase a set of the red ones (with amber), but will wait for the frosted clear ones. I didn't mind the amber; but the choices for matching up with the rear lights when disposing of that awful black plastic thing they call a fender while trying to keep the bike's mods looking professional-grade were non-existent. Those flush-mounts of yours look better than stock my friend. I can't believe the sheeot that some of your competitors include with their so-called kits that they expect me to use for signals on my cutting edge bike. Benchmark bro. Keep up the good work.

I'm definitely going to purchase the clears. The idea of having them frosted or difused sounds great – it would definitely be good to hide the plastic beneath, not to mention the added benefit of higher visibility.

Hey S4iscool. You're not gettting a proper flash rate for $50. The $50 is to send in your amber lights and have the LED's switched out for Clear. The flash rate has nothing to do with the $50 exchange.

Here is a Photo of my bike with the Greggs installed as you can see I also dumped the buddy pegs bobed the silly reflector in the rear fender and changed the screen. the photo is also in "photos > Pose > Blue04 R1"

You though of doing the white background with the clear lens, then it would look like there was nothing there. But that looks alot better than stock.

if you look closely you can see that the white doesn't go all the way to the edge of the bliker hole. the white greggs would have a blue ring around them.

Good point also I wonder if the clear would be as visible in the daylight as the amber?

we'll soon find out, i reckon. I seriously doubt Gregg would let the product leave his shop if they weren't as bright as he could possibly make them.

I actually work right by Gregg's shop/garage. This guy has to be the coolest R1 guy that I had a chance to meet. His shop/garage is incredible. He walked me around and showed off his new inventions. It's not just about running the business....you can really see the passion of building bike in his eyes. I wish all of the vendors/builders/dealers are like him. Very very nice guy. Gregg, as soon as this rain stop, I'll drop by your shop and be your first customer for the clear ones. Mike

I like the orange but I want to see what the clear will look like before I throw down the cash. How does the red match up closely with factory? I was thinking of going polished? Opinions....?

Maybe there's something wrong. Beginning of the 3rd week in November, and it's killing me!! Not knowing is worse than knowing if it's delayed due to SOME problem. I'm hoping for the latter.

what is a turn signal mirror replacement?

drek007
01-10-2005, 09:21 AM
mirrors with turn signals built-in. you would then plug the holes where the stock blinkers were and your turn signals would be on the backside of the mirrors

tranceportmidl
01-10-2005, 01:47 PM
well i was thinking more along the lines of no mirrors and basically having flush mount turn signals where the mirrors would have gone. GC already sells the mirror replacement, i thought it would be cool to integrate turn signals along with them.

Someone has already bolted them onto the 04, and it looked good. The Honda 1100 Blackbird also has mirrors with turn signals on the back of them.
