Hi,

I need to know what the manufacturor settings are for the '98s suspension.

I tried sitting on a '00 R1 at the Yamaha dealer today and it was A LOT softer than mine.

And also tell me exactly how to do this.. I haven't tuned the suspension before.

Swedie!! Really you have not touched the suspension??
I make it almost every day I drive!(But I recognice than I´m a litte strange, you know..)
My 00 goes standar like this:
Front: extension : 5 "clic"
compresion : 5 "clic"
pre-load : 6 out
Rear : extension : 7 "clic"
compresion : 9 "clic"
pre-load : 4 out
When I go to a circuit I star like this and I continue litle by litle to where I think It´s ok:

Front : extension : 1 "clic"
compresion : 2 "clic"
pre-load : 2 out
Rear :extension : 4 "clic"
compresion :6 "clic"
pre-load :4 out
Always talking from "close" to "open".
I dont know if this can hel you ´cos I know the 98 suspension is inner different(soft) than 00 but...:hellobye

Jalle. Thanks for the email but I need it like Aitor has done it. Else I will not understand :)

Can you do that?

Aitor.. you say you can't wheelie the R1.. Maybe your R1 has way too soft suspension.. ?

Swedie: do you think it? Maybe you´re rigth, ´cos I remember when I´m on circuit and with harder suspension my bike is very "jumper" included in 2cnd.

I´ll try it harder only to feel the diference!:D

Don't forget suspension settings are based on weight........

Yep! And I also figured out I wouldn't touch the suspension because I really can't try it out now.

And I've heard many say the original suspension settings are too soft for ME.. (who do wheelies and race kinda hard)

I weight 75kg and I'm 180cm tall.

Swedie, you still want the original suspension for your bike?
I´ve found an old magazine were it comes the original and the best settings for your bike.
