I wore out the 218s that came with the bike. I decided to try the Pirelli Diablo Corsas on the front and rear.
I got the tires mounted and spin balanced. I am running 36 PSI in the rear and 34 PSI in the front. I've put about 300 street miles on the tires so far. Here are some observations:
1. Wet pavement is like ice. Absolutely no traction at all. If it rains, I'm going to park it from now on.
2. Painted lines on the street are more slippery.
3. The bike seems higher in the back and lower in the front.
4. Steering is quicker.
5. In steep turns at speed, the bike settles into a groove and is very stable. It is easy to make adjustments in mid corner.
6. The tires have more bite in a straight line. Shifts from 1st to 2nd use to be uneventful. Now the front wheel heads for the sky if I'm not careful.
7. The ride seems a little smoother.
All in all, I'm happy with the tires so far. The big question is what kind of tire life I'm going to get...
