whats up guys, I am thinking of buying a graves ram air box and velocity stacks for my 02 r1. Has anyone heard any thing good or bad about the air box or the velocity stacks, i saw the thread the other day about the velocity stack and the owner seemed very happy with them. does any one know of any other ram air boxes for the 02 i should check out?

From "Tuning Sport Bikes" chaper 6, page 50:

“Most people assume sealed airboxes exist just to create gains from forward facing air intakes. This is considered hot because racebikes have very visible snorkels, scoops, or other SR-71 looking air intake hardware up front. Sadly, even if the energy of moving air could be completely converted to pressure, at 150 miles per hour the pressure gain is only 3 percent. This is fine on a Superbike racer, where it might give an extra 3 to 4 horsepower near top speed. But this “ram-air” is a velocity-squared effect; if you double the speed, you get four times the pressure. Conversely, if you halve the speed to 75mph, you get only ¼ the effect, or ¾ of 1 percent. This is a horsepower or less on a big engine. Not much.”
