has anyone had this problem? i have about 2,000 miles on it and it doesnt shift as smooth as it did brand new. it seems like its a little harder to shift now. if use to just slide in gear, almost with out having to clutch it.

after about 2,000 miles mine started getting stuck in neutral a lot. It still does but it's much better after a fresh oil change. I'm going to switch to synthetic next time too and maybe look into a better filter.

Everyone has their preference on what synthetic to use. I have
always had great luck with Mobil One 15W50 in the red cap. It
costs about $4.50 per quart at Wally World. I waited until I had
5K miles on my bike before I made the switch. I've never had the
first problem of any kind. If you have 2K on your bike you should
be ok to put it in. Lot's of choices along with prices that are very
steep. Try doing a search on synthetic oil. It's been covered here
many times.

Make sure your shift rod isn't binding. After I had the rod off to change the sprocket, I over tightened it and it binded and caused shifting problems. Funny how something so smalll can sometimes be the problem.

I resisted against synth oil forever.

then I tried castrol R4 superbike...didnt like much at all

then searched via forum and decided to give mobil a chance...in love..have over 2000 miles on this oil change and its still clean and clear...shifting has noticably improved.

also for the guys getting neutral stuck...adjust your shift rod down 1/8 of a inch...incredible difference

I was having same issue in power running my bike and a mamber suggested doing this...I never get stuck in neutral any more

its not your oil at all, the tranney is working itself in. Mine did the same thing but after 2500 miles or so it went back to being smooth as silk, so synthetic oil is not needed, and it also costs a bit more.

it doesnt feel like a tranny working itself in. i cant see how a tranny can be smooth then get tight, then go back to being smooth.
i did change my front sprocket, i will check the linkage again and see.
