Lets do this westside, Lets all get together and get a big azz ride organize.

First and foremost we need to find/decide on a place to meet. The area needs to have hotels and crap so if we have a large enough group we could possibly get a group rate.

I bet It will be held in Borrego Springs sometime in Oct. Reason Is the 04R1 was tested in Borrego and It would be cool to have a covention in one of the best sportbike riding areas in the west coast. The weather in Oct should be awesome.:thumbup

Note:
I am making some inquirys to set up a parking lot for RV/dry camping on Fort Ord for the '05 'Seca MotoGP event. The location in mind is about 2mi from the west gate. The glitch is that in Dec/Jan the city of Marina is to takeover the management of the facilities and no deals can be made till that goes thru. I will post up when I have new info. Meanwhile lets rock the West Coast.

I saw someone mention something about Fort Ord for the GP's.....I was just thinking about doing that the other day. Any update on info? I don't think it's military anymore, but I can hook everyone up if it is. I've got a 5th wheel, 6 beds, wife staying at home, and rent will be free :). Still need to get my general admission passes!

I have been thinking about a Big Sur ride. I did this 2 years ago in July after the 'Seca races. I was about a 4 1/2 hour leg to Cayucos for lunch and then back to Carmel. The best time for this would be midweek to avoid the motorhome traffic. With the weather sometimes foggy it may need to be planned with interchangable days for Monterey tourist stuff and golf, or even kayaks on the Monterey Bay. I reccomend the week of May 1.
The MotoGP will be in Montery July 9-11. May 1 prices will be easier to work with. Yes-I have 3dayMotoGP ticket and will camp in Carmel Valley that weekend and would consider the same locaton if a Big Sur ride happens.

Why doesn't this get combined in some small way with the ride that everyone wants to do for Robert's memorial? Sounds like a big list of riders that want to do that too.

All the rest of us need is for someone to give us a time and place...and let us figure out our own way of getting there. If you try to plan something that accomodates everyone's schedule and location, it will never happen!

I went thru it before, they are CAREFUL how they pack because of insurance. It's not a load 20 bikes in a day thing. They drain and crate each bike single. Driver puts in 8 hours a day which makes it approximately 4 day trip coast to coast. Then for insurance they unpack and verify.

Then you do it again on the way back!

and they are not going to move that tractor trailer for 1 bike, then wait for a full load!

I wanted to do a Vegas thing and it was @$500 each way!

The West Convention hopes are still alive, the biggest issue at this time is the track location; with Laguna shutdown for 50-days, remaining calendar dates at other venues have been difficult to schedule.

At present our three options are WSIR, California Speedway and Buttonwillow.

If more are willing to travel further north, Thunderhill Raceway is available as well; unfortunately Infineon and Laguna are booked for the 2005 season.

Actually, all the stars aligned.....got a good refund, saved up from the deployment, and ended up getting a shade over 3K for all the stock parts on eBay! Got $800 for the original 1998 red/white bodywork alone. I needed the money for the rebuild, but I REALLY didn't want to part with those skins...mint shape.

I saw someone mention something about Fort Ord for the GP's.....I was just thinking about doing that the other day. Any update on info? I don't think it's military anymore, but I can hook everyone up if it is. I've got a 5th wheel, 6 beds, wife staying at home, and rent will be free :). Still need to get my general admission passes!

Does anyone have any idea as to when this is suppose to happen? My race season starts on the 12th of March and as much as I would like to ride with you people it's getting to the point where I can not make it. If someone know anything about this please let us know.

It will be the Monday and Tuesday following the California speedway AMA superbike race so basically plan on the whole weekend plus a few days....

VPREATR will be posting all the info ASAP, just waiting on a few last details....

On a more serious note there there is a sportbike rental place here but they rent out 600's (so R6?). AFIK there's no places with literbikes for rent.
