Just wanted to say how much I love this thread. I love the 50th WGP bike and I love seeing all the photos of everyone's rides. I am totally jealous. Also, the google maps idea was pretty sweet. It is nice to see where all the bike are all over the world. Good stuff!
I've seen other threads dedicated to posting up pics of your blue, black, red, etc... bikes, but I haven't seen one dedicated to our WGPs. I thought about creating a new one, but this one has quite a bit of good info in it already.
With that said, I just thought it would be nice to keep updating this thread with pieces of builds, pics, parts, etc... so we've got everything in one place for quick reference, gathering ideas, etc...
Started modding with a fender eliminator, some flush mounts:
Picked up some rear spools and Lightech chain adjusters:
Picked up a set of Sato sliders:
Finally found a great deal on a set of Akrapovic slip ons:
Started throwing on parts I bought for my 05 before I sold it:
Picked up a nice Harris clutch perch with Bremob lever & Renthal clipons:
Finally got to throw on my Carrozzeria wheels, Braking rotors, and new chain & sprockets:
Decided it was time to get outside for some nice shots with the DSLR:
Threw some misc MDI carbon bits on along the way: inner fairing panels, tank side panels, and side panels:
Picked up a set of Ohlins FGRT206s, some Attack lifters, and Sato front axle sliders:
Picked up a nice set of GBRacing covers from my man Steve (SSPilot), HEL lines with quick disconnects, and rear Brembo caliper mount to go along with my new Beringer calipers:
Picked up a nice set of Rizoma rearsets from my man Chris (burn-z):
I've thrown a bunch of ti on along the way, but still have a long way to go:
I've still got a TON of stuff I'm going to continue to do, but will come back here to throw updates on. I just think having a thread we can all come back to will be much easier than bouncing around all over the place.
I thought the look of the bike could be improved with a bigger tire hugger so I bought a "Carbon Look" Powerbronze on Ebay but the fake carbon is really blue in colour and does not match the carbon decals or the real Carbon on the Akro's so I just sent it out to be painted red, will post pics when it's done. For now here is how it looks out of the package.
Here are a few pics after the hugger was painted, I decided not to put the mesh screens back, the cut outs kind of match the ones on the front fender.
In 4 days (11/25) I will have had my '12 WGP for a year, so far about $4k in mods. I always had mostly stock bikes, my '06 was still stock and 5 yrs old when I joined the forum. I love the look and quality built in to almost all "race parts", Ti bolts are the current addiction. I like the looks of the stock '12 forks, probably just get a cartridge kit and a TTX rear (eventually), instead of complete R/T forks. Anyone have experience with Ohlins or others "drop in" cartridge kits? Can't stop thinking about what to get next, and when
