That's crazy about the Troy, Mo. bank president. I actually know him and found out on the r1 forum! I go to church with him and would've found out today but happened to not go. Wow, good for you Dave.

I've picked up a few over the past couple of months just in case. No FFL is required for any other part.

Which irks me. It's a rifle component. Not a full rifle.
I should pick one up myself. Unfortunately, I'm broker 'n broke so out of the budget right now.

That's just because its the least changed out part of an AR but can be used for a long gun or handgun style build. It's also the one part that will be regulated in further assault rifle regulations

Alright i got another one. I need a quad rail for my model 2. Where is there a good site for it? Also, what is the difference between free float and drop in?

I know. Just irks me about some of the firearms regulations is all.
So, aside from skeet/trap, I rarely shoot firearms anymore. I keep saying I want an AR platform. But, the cost is prohibitive right now. So, I shoot archery instead as it's a longer hunting season and more enjoyable for me.
(Posted in another thread) Did some shooting the other night with my coworker who's sponsoring me.
The bow (Mathews MR7):
The release (Tru-Fire Hardcore Max):
Typical results after shooting the 10th group of 5 arrows:
Switched over to my back tension release (Tru-Ball HT3) as I was feeling restricted by the use of a wrist strap release:
Was my second time ever shooting it, and back tensions are very finicky while you're learning to shoot them. First group with it:
Second group:
Final group of the evening (shot about five groups of five arrows with the back tension):
I know I'm a little low on the target with my back tension. But, I was focusing on form more than accuracy.

Free float means that the barrel does not touch the forearm of the gun. Some are more pronounced than others. I have a get that just have a forearm so you have something to hold onto. Others look like they touch but they don't. If you take a dollar bill and slide it between the barrel and the forearm, you should be able to run it all the way back to the receiver. If no, pull it apart and sand it down a little bit.

Love it. Significantly more than my Hardcore which I thought was the top of the line. The back tension releases take a bit to get used to. But, to me it's much more of a natural release in that it goes off without anticipation, or thought like a trigger. With a trigger release, it's draw, sight-in, hold, trigger. With a back tension, you take away the intentional thought of the trigger.
There's so much more that a good back tension adds to form and technique, I'll most likely switch over entire to this for both target and hunting.

I'm waiting til they get the tech done for the left side charging handle. Thinking a 416 piston kit and a fluted 10.5 barrel. Put the bitch on a diet. Swap out for monolithic rail and there are some one off unobtainium parts. I have a prototype maker working on some parts. See if he can do it or he makes me some junk.
