smog block off problems
so after installing smog block offs on my 07 R1 i have a problem and wonder has anyone else had it...after the bike runs for a few minutes, the bike will blow this piece of gasket out.its where it appears to be a hole where the gasket was but its just pushed inside...oil does spray out...when it blows out it sounds like a big air purge like a compressor when its full....pshhhhhhhhhhhh....wtf..i will say it does start better and the bike is no longer a flame thrower!

The AIS system that is removed for the blockoffs uses air from the airbox, I would guess that too much blowby gases and air is not being removed from the crankcases and airbox, my '06 just started to leak (don't know where yet) after the last trackday I went to. It has over 50,000 on it , so it is likely the same problem as you're having. Might have to put the AIS system back on to remedy our problems (oil leak). When the throttle is closed, not much of the blowby gases and air are being removed (by the engine at idle) from the airbox, that normally would be removed through the AIS system.

Damn that sucks,at least my leak show its ugly head up front...but so many people run block offs without error I assume....instead of running the hose back into the motor I guess it could be routed to dump under motor...my bike starts quicker, and before the block offs it's hard to crank hot..

Are we of the few whom had this problem..someone help before I take block offs off...bike runs so well...could seal that gasket but I'm sure itll blow another one off...i guess some release is needed somewhere
cause when it purges the air it sounds like such a release...gonna make a video..

That's the problem. With the block offs my bike cranks perfect. With out them it's hard to crank when hot, which I see a lot of here. Bike does run a lot better with block offs as well..well there off now and i rode 5 miles to the gas station filled up and of course wouldn't crank. Had to wait a few mins...crankcase pressure is to high to run block offs, I'm just wondering why..gonna replace valve cover gasket and check valves..probably gonna sell it and get a 2004 zx10... Still have my 06R6R and 99 R1. Damn gonna miss her..

There is something wrong with your engine breathing lines. Blockoffs are used on higher comp motors and this wouild not happen .

I'm with Roo on this.
You haven't accidentally plugged the crank case breather hose have you? or at least kinked it?
For pressure to build up like that you must have a blockage somewhere.

Probably having a hard time cranking because of too much internal pressure. Search for my krankvent thread and see if your crankcase breather tube is clear.

Not doubting you, trying to understand, but if it was too much pressure, why does it crank better with block offs on?

This is not a problem caused by smog block offs. More than likely durning your install and reassembly you've blocked the crank case breather.

The good old Krankvent.
I have one of those, but without the filter on top.
I don't like the idea of pumping hot oily air from the crankcases into the airbox.
