Newbie from England.

Hello forum,

Here to better my knowledge regarding the R1 and just general assistance in the ownership of this fine machine.
I'm looking for a late 5JJ (2002) in blue but as yet I haven't found anything worth buying, not sure how true it is but I've been told by a local specialist that the late 5JJ is the most sought after used model here in the UK hence its rarity though I imagine the arrival of the 5PW that same year has a lot to do with it, anyway I'd be really grateful if those in the know could advise me on common faults or things to look out for when buying a 5JJ? thanks.

Can't help you out too much on your search, as I'm state side. But, common issues of the 2003 and previous models are transmissions. The dog ears would round out and cause missed/popped gears in 2nd IIRC. Many would undercut the gears to cause a lock. But, I believe later transmission kits resolved the issue.

Best of luck to you in your search. I liked the looks of the Euro Blue R1 with the black lower.

Welcome to the forum brother ! , 2nd gear is the only issue I'm aware of. Usually from bad shifting, not a design fault though. Good Luck !
