6-6.5 k or so if I had to guess. Been through a couple classes where we ran 2 k in 2 days. I was rusty as hell today. First time out with a heavy jacket and gloves really takes some getting used to. The new gloves are a no go. Too bulky for the glock trigger guard. Wife was on fire though. She was hitting everything with all 3 firearms I had her shoot.
The 12Ga was fun to watch, I let her shoot a high brass magnum turkey load first, then a low brass dove load.

The 338LM is a shooters round, inherently accurate and long winded. Too bad it eats barrels. I loved mine.

308 and 223 don't eat barrels. Both will do 1000yds.

They do it as subsonic speeds which imo doesn't mean they do it well by any means. Basically the accuracy will suck and are not designed for it imo. wind beats the crap out of the round too. Lowest I would go for a 1000yards would be like a 6.5. I want some energy at that range as well for hunting. With a long rang gun the barrel is the least of my concerns as the rounds cost the most. I mean with say 3k rounds you'll be looking at close to 6k in rounds even if you reload. If you don't you can be looking at 28k in rounds. A 300 win mag most say will get less life then a 338 LM. I have a 556 for up to 500 yards, but even then it's nowhere near as much fun for me. It's more of my plinker gun.
I want an SBR next though and once I get that I doubt i'll ever shoot my current AR.
Next year i'm putting in for an elk tag and the 338 LM would be prime for that. Just hope I get selected...

What round are you shooting that will keep you supersonic at 1000yards with a 7.62 not to mention a 5.56?

If you do reloads watch the neck length as the chambers are super tight. I have to cut the neck to below min tirm length to keep them from having stuck rounds after firing. It's a super tight chamber so reloads can be a pita. However, the accuracy on mine is insane. Nearly putting rounds through the same hole at 100yards. A tack driver.

223 is really tough to get there, but the 308 is easy as hell to keep super to 1250. I shoot what I roll. Lapua brass will hold up just fine. I can get a bunch of firings out of the brass. The 223 will eat brass, but it can be done.
One of the 223's I built currently holds the NRA national F-class record.

The ones I roll. Varget, lapua brass and either VLD's or 175 SMK's. And for the record, a 300 winny will outlast the 338LM by at least 2x, 4x if you use a good barrel and get it treated. Just an FYI.

Your data on barrel life contradicts most all other data out there on barrel life. Either way, not here to argue.

I'll take your word on it. Boots Obermeyer knows nothing about rifle barrels, neither do the guys at Crane.

I was at wally world earlier checking on ammo prices and looked in the rifle carousels. Im pretty sure these are a piece of crap but if you wanted a ar platform that you wouldnt mind throwing against the wall.
Dpms. 223 for 497.99.
I didnt think to look for a forward assist or dust cover. Might be worth it to someone.

They really aren't bad at all. I've got one of those uppers and it works great. Unless you're in the military, that forward assist is rarely if ever used.
