Any tendinitis victims here?

So for about two years now I have had some issues with my wrist. I think I tweaked it lifting dumbell curls. Ever since I 'ignored' the slight ache and pain by using heavy bag wrist wraps. It would stabilize my wrist enough to not really be affected with lifting.

But it seems things have gotten alot worse, iv been out of the gym for about 6 months now and even just everyday chores seem to be tweaking my wrist. I was in the Marines for 4 years as a grunt, and to be honest i don't think it is from that, if it was I would think Id experience these issues back then? I really think Iv created a long term issue by lifting weights incorrectly over a year or so...especially the dumbell curls....

Anyway I'm going to schedule another VA apointment this week and have an MRI taken. Last time I went in, they just looked at it, felt it around a little bit, and asked a bunch of questions and based my visit off of that....ended up giving me a wrist splint and anti-inflamatory pills.

Anyone here ever experience it so bad that it kills just to hold a gallon of water like this? its almost out of my control, my wrist will just give out sometimes, other times i can force my hand out like this but it hurts bad.... anyways any experience or advice would help...figured what the hell why not ask.

I got diagnosed with RA about 2 years ago. Never had anything in my life other than allergies, then all of a sudden I had joint pains that moved from joint to joint for days at a time......sometimes nearly debilitating. I would do a track day or go trail riding, then 2 days later I couldn't even move my clutch hand, or my shift foot, then it would move to a shoulder, then maybe the other wrist. My family doc gave me the "you're just getting older" bs. Fired that dipsheot and found my own specialist and had a battery of tests done to finally get a correct diagnosis. Started out with minimum amount of meds and worked up until I've had no more flare-ups.

If it is Arthritis, you don't want to ignore it, it does more damage with every flare-up and there is no repairing it.

Try applying heat to the area for 15 - 20 minutes every few hours and see if it helps.I have the same problem at times, heat improves circulation and helps the healing process.Stop lifting heavy things! or it won't get well.

I get it about twice a year as a result of my job. I dont think thats what is bothering you from what you have described. Also holding the jug like that should be a real chore with tendinitis. Movement would cause pain but holding something stationary wouldnt be that bad

Sorry I meant holding the jug shouldn't be a chore instead of should. You shouldn't have a great deal of discomfort unless moving the wrist with strain applied (cutting steak with knife)

Sounds like mine. Probably inflamed, but the MRI should tell the whole story.

i also used to get pains like you're describing from overtraining on the bench. to be more specific...too much weight. muscle-wise, no problem. but my wrists didn't like it. nothing helped except backing way off.

you're too smart a guy to need to be cautioned to back off, right?
(assuming you're doing heavy ADBCs for their only purpose)

I had it (tendinities) WICKED BAD in my forearm through my elbow where if anything were to even touch my elbow I would be in serious pain. It lasted at least a couple of years but with a more moderate workout (easier on the curls and flies) it eventually went away completely.

Had it in my shoulder. Turns out it was caused by a bone spur that popped up causing me to hold my shoulder at an odd angle. Went to.a specialist who had me do physical therapy and told me to take Aleve since it's the same as the scrip stuff without the cost. It was either that or have surgery to remove the spur. My shoulder hurt so bad I couldn't lift it without help. I was taking hydrocodone just so I could sleep.
