It is possible to hit 200mph without a lot of mods, some gearing changes and ecm programing, and like Z06 said, you'll need a good distance to achieve such speed, it has been done before, mind you....it was a CBR. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Ne...cord-by-woman/

Indicated speed isn't actual speed, or even close to it sometimes

Maybe his speedo said 196 for a variety of reasons and errors, but it wasn't actual.
But its a titanium exhaust, that alone should get him close.

You're looking at about 20-25 HP difference between that Fireblade and a 2003 R1.

Uhhh look at what bike he rides. It's the flames edition guys! Of course it goes 196! That explains it all...

at those speeds, the amount of HP required to overcome aerodynamic forces starts to skyrocket. Drag goes up at the square of velocity, and the propulsive force required will go up at the cube of velocity. Say it takes 150 HP to go 185mph, to go 200mph it would take (in theory) (200/185)^3 x 150 = 190 HP. I doubt very seriously anybody is going to find 40HP from an exhaust and a tune up.

ok well we are going to approach it like this i think...his motor has like 30,000 miles on it so we are going to look into a bore first followed by the full titanium exhaust, velocity stacks, a racing ecm, power commander(or something similar), a pocket GPS unit, a sprocket change, carbon fiber plastics and a lot of stickers...lol jk on the last part...but my question right now can i believe these wesites like yoshi and graves and m4 and what not on their HP gain claims??? They seem a bit pepped up...anyway i told him lets get all this stuff installed excluding the bore and see what our benchmark is at and go from there

unless you got the speed off a gps i wouldn't believe your speedo for one second. did you install a speedo healer?

When you do the bore, you should get head work done.... that will be the biggest thing in getting that thing to breathe. No point in taking the engine apart and doing these mods if you're going to skip the head.

I heard on the gixxer forum they were making a compatible helium filled loom harness that was supposed to work across all FI R1's.

Also, if you can improve the overall aero of bike and rider, you won't need as much HP, which is probably a lot more expensive than aero, up to a point.

Using the same example above, say you improved your aero such that you can now go 188mph with 150HP. Now you only need (200/188)^3 x 150 = 180HP to get to 200mph.
