What's her name (I think in the Senate) already filed (or is this week) to have the assault weapons ban put back in place. AND she wants it to be retroactive... so the stuff you bought that was in the previous ban would have to be returned.
Not sure that will fly. Time to buy a AR-10 before I can't...

montana alone has over 90 million acres alone. combine in wi, mn, wy, etc and we have more land then most in the city realize. Fact is most people couldn't get there with clogged roadways and lack of gas it comes to that. However, I always chuckle when I hear people talk a bout end of the world things like this. Fact is luck will play more of a factor then anything if things get to that point.

I went by there Saturday afternoon. Kids are gone to church camp this weekend and the wife wanted to go to Green Hills Mall, so when we got out of there I went to Nashville Armory. I'd say don't let the parking lot fool you; It was packed when I go there, and I even had to park at the Krav Maga place next door, but when I went inside it was not very crowded in the showroom at all. Everybody was in the shooting ranges....and I mean everybody. I smell trouble coming for them soon with the amount of non-shooters they had wandering around in there, taking pictures, talking, etc. It did not look to be very controlled to me. Nevertheless, the show room had quite a few pistol and several AR's, AK's, a SCAR, several shotguns, etc... but not really a lot. The mount them horizontal on the wall to look like they've got a lot, but I'd say less than a hundred long arms on the wall. They had probably a dozen different display stands littered throughout the store with their T-shirts and polo shirts on them, and another half dozen with just holsters on them. Overall, it's a nice place, but $20/hr to shoot is 2X what the gun ranges here charge, and their inventory needs to be built up. That, and there must have been 20 employees in there; their payroll has to be up there right now, but I didn't see enough sales going on to justify it. But, I guess at $20/hr on the range and all 16 lanes full, they're making a haul on range fees.
BTW, you're right, it was a beotch to get to it. You have to exit Armory, then jump on Hardison to swing down onto Powell, go up to Sidco, then onto Kenilwood. It's not evident at all, there's no signs anywhere, etc. Even then when we got to Powell there was a head on crash right there that ended up slamming into the concrete barriers at that business directly across the intersection, so we had to exit onto Powell north, then u-turn to go on Powell South, and the popo was not amused at all by that. He had such a sheot face I could almost smell it, but he was working the wreck and couldn't really do anything about it.
Spent the rest of the day knocking back beers at the Second Fiddle.....that's always worth it.

The few people with the know-how, skills, and willingness to make it to those areas should be alright, but along with that comes almost zero access to anything/anywhere but the ground you're on. Most people have it in their head they are going to just drive out of town to "the woods" they know about, and that will end up like Central Park. I'm not sure how much actual luck will factor in, most "luck" is the product of good planning and forethought.
I gotta say Lobster has one helluva sound plan and apparently the means to pull it off today if he had to. I would call that about as perfect of a plan as you could reasonably come up with. The ability to motor right out of trouble and off to anywhere else is huge; he'd be gone before anybody even knew to look, and he can pretty much hit the ground running wherever he decides to make port. Just reading his posts about it, there's a pretty good movie plot in it.

Yeah that whole area needs re-done as far as the roads go.I wish I'd known you would of been up this way I wasn't doing sheet early afternoon and would of bought you lunch.I personally have not a need for gun ranges .I can go to my brothers land or my parents land and I have a good friend from high school that has 40 acres in Lawrenceburg with great shooting lanes and a small mountain hill for elevation shots.

what is the huge building being built downtown, with the wavy roof, right behind the Bridgestone Arena?

On another note, Is it me or is downtown Nashville moving towards college age crowds? 3 years ago I don't remember seeing any college age people down there unless they were working, now half of the honky tonks are college kids. I can't tell you how disappointing it is to be in one and hear the band play Journey.

Worse yet, one of the band members was working the crowd with the tip jar and taking requests. I gave them a pretty good tip and requested Folsom Prison Blues. When he gets back to the stage the band lead reads through them, even calls out that somebody requested Johnny Cash and there was a lot of approval yells from the crowd. So, they proceed to play Journey, Steve Miller, Georgia Satellites, Led Zeppelin, ANOTHER Journey song, then spend a lot of time with some engagement party ho's and a couple stupid songs, then send their guy back out for more tips and requests. DID NOT PLAY JOHNNY CASH. I was friggin' pissed. As we were leaving, the ahole stops me for a tip and a request and I told him "not a fcvkin' chance, you got a tip already then didn't play the song" and kept walkin' right out the door.

Frank, they've been doing it for over 20 years......it's never going to stop. Do you get as pissed when people call an engine a "motor"?

No, cause they are not trying to ban motors or engines.
