Just curious, but for those of you who do buy gold/silver is there a website you use or local?

Local. The government outlawed private caches of gold for most of the early 20th century. Who's gonna lay bets they won't do it again if things get bad? Keep it off the grid if you can. PM KYnetguy for info.

I buy local. I suspect any records of large gold purchases could lead to government raids if things did go all to hell. The government would be forced to revive the gold standard if things "reset". In the past they have shown they will take it if they have to.
There are some places that do it quietly and give a nice discount if you buy more than 16 ounces at a time.

No more than buying a car and its a investment that doesn't depreciate the moment you buy it
Its a sizable discount. Almost a oz extra for buying 16 at market value

Oh it could easily drop to a quarter of the current market price. However you still have it regardless. Thats the whole appeal. If a stock plumits you can easily be left with nothing. Its something you can hols onto forever. People dont think twice about spending $70,000 on a sports car to play with. So I was just making the point that although buying gold by the pound is expensive. Its better than a lot of expensive purchases people make

Theres nothing wrong with it. Dont get me wrong. I have spent more in luxuries for my boat then most houses cost. I just think its important to put money into securing ones financial future before making unnecessary purchases

Agreed. I just found your comment funny was all. Made me feel like I sat down at the poker table only to realize I mistakenly sat at the big boys table.

Your the exception to my rule BTW. Regardless of your current financial position you should be looking for a new corvette ASAP. Or whatever fancy expensive sports car you like. Just as long as it screams "middle aged man looking for hottie in mid-30's" Its time to have some fun

Thanks for the vote of confidence, E.
You're saying my free candy van won't have the hot chick lined up though?

Younger, older. Doesn't matter to me. Just so long that it's good and I don't get tied down while I'm able to focus on my plans/goals, I'm good.
One nice thing about being single: Less is more. Less to pack, less to deal with, less to get frustrated with because she "just doesn't get it". Highly mobile, and don't have to worry about the family slowing me down.
Gotta look on the bright side of life
