I'm curious as to what the dealership said when they called the police. Ummm, we undersold a car on accident and the guy refuses to pay the difference. Please arrest him

More like, we sold a guy a car and he refuses to pay for it.

The President of the dealership (owner maybe) probably was not even in the loop when the dealership called the police. I would hope the idiots who called got fired. The President sure didn't even try to make right by simply apologizing!
I might have not thrown a lwasuit there way if I knew they dealt with the staff and that they really too care of me. I would have setteld for a car on the house if they had done that up front.
But I would be as pissed of as this guy the way they handled this and did the same thing. The owner/President knows nothing about customer service...

Don't you just love how anyone can have anyone else arrested with a simple accusation?

Yeah, I hope he gets a good enough deal that the dealership is left stinging over it, but $2 million is way beyond that, and not even reasonable. Everybody is cheering for it, but tomorrow there will be a thread where somebody sued somebody else for $2 million and won and we'll all be trashing the verdict as excessive, stupid, etc. Perspective has a funny way of changing opinions.
And based on past stories, we'll probably also find out there's a lot more to the story and the "victim" isn't just some poor innocent slob who was getting dicked over.
I totally believe the comment about the owner of the dealership not even knowing about this when it happened, then intervened because he knew his people fcvked it all up; that's why the guy was released. But, what's he gonna do to his employees? Fire them? Then he gets sued (and loses) by them because they didn't receive enough training for situations like that, they weren't warned, blah...blah...blah.

I'd prefer to see charges instead of a $ payout. The dealer takes the hit, not the asshat who f'd up.

My question is:
If he had the contract that was signed by himself and the dealer, how the hell was he arrested in the first place? They couldn't look over the documents and see?

Violating anything on a contract is not a criminal offense to begin with, it's civil, and cops don't make civil arrests. They had to have been told the guy stole the vehicle, which means they didn't see a contract and were lead to believe the guy literally stole it.

Exactly why the dealership should get shafted! They blatantly lied to police

I'm all for the dealer getting appropriately stung, but I'm just tired of every d-bag that gets water spilled on him thinking he deserves millions of dollars for it.

As stated, there's always more to these types of stories. With the facts presented, sounds like somebody from the dealership should be spending some time in jail.
