Jelizondo_20 build thread
So got an 07 R1, I installed K&N air filter but basically everything else is stock. I got 150 dollars on hand and I wanted to find out whats a better bang for my buck out of these choices...
1-A&R Racing Baffles
2-Alpinestar Heated gloves *I live in San Diego, so I might buy winter gloves instead*
3-some type of ECU reflash *not too familiar with this*
4-520 chain and sprocket kit
Help me please...

If it were my money, chain and sprocket is the way I'd go.

I'd say baffle kit. But then again I don't like to change the chain and sprocket teeth from stock.

Nothing wrong with it but I don't have a speedo healer for the bike and still like to have the top speed not that I really have ever used it though. I'm just saying I'd prefer the deeper and louder exhaust if he only had that much money to spend.

OP, is the stock exhaust look good for you, or down the road are you gonna want a Graves, Akrapovic, Leo Vinci or _______ ( insert the thousands of options avaiable here) exhaust???

I was thinking a slip on but the A&r allows me to keep the stock look and buy other goodies. If I get the chain kit then I will buy the speedo healer too.

Your going to get the biggest "seat of the pants" difference from the c&s combo. Less weight, getting into the meat of the motor quicker, looks (the Renthal + D.I.D. look ), and I figure do it once, do it right.

True, tough choice to make. Either c&s or baffles. Either way, the next upgrade will be next month. Will check out motomummy and other websites for good prices.

Of the choices I would do the flash, if it makes anywhere near the diff on the 07 as it does on the 09+ its well worth the money

I forgot that I would need to take my bike to a shop for the chain kit cuz I don't feel comfortable changing the chain.
So now it's leaning towards the baffles. I wanna do a reflash but don't know where to start. I would have to read up on it before I attempt.

Very true, but if I mess up the baffles, I only lose an baffle and end cap. I feel more comfortable taking it to a shop

It does make a huge difference on the 07 as well.

Not trying take over your thread here but I'm in the same boat. I have on 07 that I bought brand new (in 07 shortly after they were released) and ended up having to put it in storage a little less than a year after I bought it. The bike ended up sitting in storage up until march of this year. Although she's getting up there in years, she's still a baby as far as mileage (about 1200) and except for a fender eliminator, it's bone stock.
So after 4 years and 8 months of sitting, I put her in the shop yesterday in hopes of getting it back up and running. I'm also looking at mods and a flash is definitely something I've been considering. Some of you may be familiar with the "Yamalag" glitch that some, if not all of the 07 had. My bike fell into that category and I was never able to get it fixed. I'd assume that the original owner of your R1 would've gotten the first ECU swapped out if he had that problem so it may not affect you. What I want to know is does anyone know if a flash would fix the "yamalag" glitch?
