4C8 R1 powered raptor 700 quad build
Hi Everybody,
i joined this site yesterday after lurking around for about a year looking for info and tech stuff for this build, and it has been an amazing source of information for me.
So i thought i would start this build thread to share it with you, i will be cheating a bit as its pretty much finished now but i will try to do this in some chronological order.
Thats if i can work out how to upload photos.
So some background... this quad started as a standard (apart from twin scorpions) road legal 06 Yamaha Raptor 700, white plastics and silver frame which i paid £4100 for.
Regards
Bart

What did you have to do to the frame to get it to work. I have a Banshee that I cannot get right and keep blowing up.

Here are some more pics.
sorry it took a while but ive been travelling to Utah for work and i'm flat out tired.
I would have liked to shown you some frame modding pictures but when i was doing the research into attempting this myself, i spoke to a guy who has done this conversion before and after a long conversation with him and him kind of scaring me into submission about thing like critical engine position for ultimate handling and stuff i decided to pay him to do the frame.
here are some pics of the frame mocked up and then stripped down and off to powder coat.

Hi Ellesw, can you be more elaborate, you mean you have a banshee with an R1 motor or are you thinking of doing one?
If you are thinking of doing one, the banshee has a really short frame because of the short 2 stroke motor and is a nightmare to do.
cheers

I have a banshee that I would like to put a different more reliable motor in it but keep it ridiculously fast.

Ellsw, i have tried this conversion before with not too much success i put a drag tuned gsxr motor into it... but like i mentioned previously the frame is really short and requires a lot of work to make fit.
i had trouble with the fuel tank going back on and stuff so in the end i sold it to a friend who never finished it either.
start with a 4 stroke quad first is my reccomendation.
Cheers
Bart
