The slightest tip... destroyed a side.. replacement of 1 side... mise well buy another pair. Ive had huge highspeed low sides on cheaper rearsets that asked for more.. I just think in this case... money is better spent on a better quality product. (in some cases cheaper)

If you have to replace a side it's nearly always better to buy a new set. This goes for all brands. Replacement parts always cost more then you would think. Try and price out a bike in the parts dept at a dealer and you'll have a 100k bike.

If you want something to withstand a crash it's Driven Racing hands down. They are solid as hell They do weigh a tad more then others, but they are built to last.

I have three sets ( Sato's, Gilles, and Lightechs). While they all have performed flawlessly, the Sato's are the prettiest.

I've put mine down twice and my buddy has put his down 4 times at least...finally had to replace the peg since it was ground down.

I've had the sides bend some, but a press puts them back straight and into perfect working order again

One of the best fit & finish i ever seen

you will love it trust me

Especialy if its two tone color, you can make the base color black and the rest of the parts same color of your bike, you gonna love it.

I like my vortex, smooth shifting with the quick shifter, grippy pegs never slips.

+1 for vortex, i've crashed on sets of them a pile of times, ran them on 600's and this r1. when you race they're great as at least one vendor will be carrying parts for them, or someone will have spare parts in their toolbox. pegs for all of them mount the same, and a lot of the hardware is the same size stuff too.

anyways, when i've crashed they usually stand up to it well, and i've only broken one side and a pile of pegs. the pegs will break in the shear point that they milled and again, are cheap and easy to find. i personally don't know why you would run anything else esp. when so many others are running them. there's a reason for that...

flukes do happen and it sounds like the guy above has had a negative experience with them. i've seen piles of crashed with them and they stand up better than they should given their location on a bike, it's one of the worst points as in most crashes it's getting drug along the ground there.

as for flukes i contacted rider discount as they were running an r1 in the ama. i asked them if they had can sliders as i would be running an expensive system. rider discount, an extremely experienced race team who had campaigned a crossplane and had experience with such matters, said i would never EVER hit the cans in a crash. first crash, scrape the right side.... second crash, scrape the left side.... of my 2500 dollar system... woe is me :'O

I've only had experience with the Gilles (R1) and Vortex (R6). Strong points to me are:
  • Gilles - very good fit and finish. Precision detailing and tooling. I really enjoyed the knurling on the pegs from the aesthetic and boot survivability standpoint.
  • Vortex - industrial strength. The knurling on the pegs is nearly savage and will put holes in your boots (but my feet have NEVER slipped out of place). Massive availability at the tracks as almost everyone carries them and many parts (pegs, hardware etc) are about universal.
