Yeah, with the back pack straps and molle panels it would be great for hunting/camping.

Nice weapon. I prefer a compact for using a can, better balance.

That, and lazy reloaders don't like necked pistol cartridges.
My contacts say it's actually increasing in popularity but it's a very slow gain each year. Plenty of Federal agencies use it and some others have switched over to it. HK did quit making new weapons in it however.

Not that hard to reload and costs the same to reload as 9mm.

I don't doubt it's increasing in popularity among particular enthusiasts, or distinct groups of people (such as competitive shooters), but among all people it is decreasing in popularity. I think it will eventually level out to being accepted by the distinct groups and otherwise knowledgeable people, but not beyond that. I've read a few articles in the last year alone that mfrs were ceasing building them (HK, for one) and that the variety of ammo available is decreasing.

As for reloading, it's all the same to me, but I have personally heard others whine about not wanting to reload necked down pistol ammo. I'm not sure they even have any kind of reason other than their own personal perception. I tried to talk my dad and brother into considering one, but they hem'd and haw'd about it as well. I wish they had all bought guns and thousands of rounds of ammo and were looking to get rid of them. I'd take one for the team and take them off their hands for them at THEIR perceived market value.

Pelicans are great cases, no argument there. I went with SKB for it's design, no questions asked warranty and insurance of contents, etc.

been doing my own stress test on my xd 40 full size (4" bbl), seeing how long it'll go without lube and not jamming. so far i'm at 9 months, shooting every 2 weeks, 200 rds per for the first 6 months, then every 3 weeks for the past 3 months, same allotment. so that's a total of 3200 rds of no lube over a 9 month time span. the only maintenance i've done is taking a tooth brush and cleaning out all the fuzz that builds up from every day carry once a month. the first 1000ish rds were rounds that jason loaded for me and everything else has been s&w white box from walmart.

jason come january i'll have to put in another order with you, with a better neck crimp this time around. (if you remember the initial feed issue i mentioned) i still feel like i shorted you last time since i was expecting fmj's when you gave me jhp's so i'll make sure it's worth your time this time around.

You got it boss. Neck crimp was fixed the day you told me about it. XD chambers are a little tighter than Glocks. I just shipped out 4k 40 for a machine gun shoot. He said it would last him til noon the first day, lol. MP5/40

Shoots super fast and no recoil. It has s finned chamber and drilled barrel so even 115g rounds stay subsonic.

Yeah, they are fun. That's the main reason I shoot so much 9. Cheap and easy, like me.
