Z064 tks for compliment!
but its intermediate group. Im kinda near the top of intermediate but only been to Sepang 3 times so not wanting to push too much. I been tracking 2 yrs. Done maybe 40 track days total. Doing 2:31 at sepang. MotoGP is 2 mins so quite a ways away

The advanced group are the league racers and stuff mostly.

A little late in posting, but haz no much time...

Went to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA on 12/8. 2nd trackday. Signed up for Level 1 (Novice) to get a feel of things and see the track since I've never been there. The memorial service for the Coastie that was killed on 12/2, was the same day and I was unable to make it there, so decided to do sort of a 'Ride In Memory Of' thing and wrote up on my tape. Tried to get vinyls done so I could stick em on, but couldn't get them cut in time.

At noon took a lunch break, and I felt like I had a good grasp on the layout and track so I decided to bump up to Level 2. 1st session after lunch was great and felt like that's where I belonged.

The 2nd session after lunch, I felt like I was puttering along faster and faster... Maybe too fast for my own good. Coming out of turn 6, I gave it too much gas and the rear started to wash out. I tried to tell myself to ease off and unload the rear, but I panicked and chopped the throttle, which resulted in the highside. Luckily I didn't get pancaked by the bike and didn't seem like I broke anything... As for cause, other than my own lack of skill, I think it was due to multiple factors. My old, unserviced shock; some imperfections at that corner, which have caused crashes in the past; bad bp and too much gas at lean without being able to react properly?

My cams survived and were retrieved, but GoPro wasn't recording and LIC died earlier in the session

Got everything loaded up (very slowly due to pain) and made it home by myself. Next day went to the ER for xrays, which confirmed no broken bones, but possible partial tear in my rotator cuff in right shoulder. Just got back MRI results that confirmed this yesterday. So into physical therapy I go. Hopefully I'll be somewhat healed and feeling better to go to a riding school and another trackday next month...

As for the bike, my pricier items (forks and exhaust) are unscathed which was luck. The front end is tweaked, but not too much so there's hope the forks are straight. Frame slider was bent forward, so the engine mount is a concern, but other than that it looks like it was mostly cosmetic, I hope.

.
Do not blame your equipment. Bad BP, too much gas, improper reaction, and lack of skill are all you.

The shock or the imperfections are not something you were unaware of. You will learn far more by looking into what YOU did wrong rather than equipment issues.

My 1st crash. I turned in too early, I didn't lean far enough and so I went off
2nd crash. I went in to fast following other bikes and put myself in a bad place, used brakes and went down.
3rd crash. I was following a guy much faster, I tried to follow his line and hit the inside curb by a few inches (according to the guy behind me). No grip on the curb and I went down.

Each time I could blame all sort of other stuff, the curb, the slower rider in front, etc but in each case I was the reason the bike was in the place it was and so I learn from each of them to get faster.

Heal up quick and have fun out there.

I know it was all me and my lack of skill as I said. I meant more to say that I was curious if it might've affected anything because I likely know nothing compared to the next guy at the track. I know I need to work on me before worrying about anything else, but I'm just curious if my shock might've been a causative factor because it was old and unserviced.

well sure other factors (bumps, shock, etc) can play a factor in it. I've just seen too many guys go down, blame something on the bike or track....then they make the same mistake again.

Crashing happens, I try to learn something every time I get myself in trouble, either going down, or off....or just close calls

That's good.

Yes you need to work on BP....you are what everyone calls "crossed up" Your avitar is the same. You bend your inside arm and drop your body closer to the tank and put your outside forearm on the tank. Your head should be fully on the inside of the line I drew on your picture (and then some) but right now you are keeping your head centered.

I haven't seen you ride so I don't know if BP is the best thing for you to work on or not though.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. I had my first trackday last month and posted up some pics of it and said that I felt liked I was crossed up but didn't know for sure asked for any help and no one replied

Any tips for breaking this bad habit? Go slower so I can concentrate on telling my body what to do correctly til it's habit?

Sorry about your crash. That sucks...looks like it trashed your MR screen. Crashing is all part of getting better. If you don't push yourself a little past your comfort zone you'll never get better. That's not to say crashing all the time is good either. The key is to take away some thing you learned from this. We always remember better through negative reinforcement. lol This summer I learned that if you miss your down shift to first and catch neutral it's far better to pop it back into second immediately than it is to free wheel and finally get it into first when it's already too late.
