This flood light can be seen for about 2 miles and is one of the most powerful lights sold. It has a 12 million candlepower and can be used to incapacitate a person. It is also the go-to light for Military, Nato forces and Law enforcement. Its incredibly versatile and durable.
These lights go for about $5500 from the company.

So what's the "practical" use? Specifically military...?

Many of the people that own one usually use it for hunting and some of my Law Enforcement friends use it instead of the issued MAG light because of its intensity and white light.
