Oil filter question
So just got into the oil change on my 06. Done more than a few. Well just noticed that my buddy sold me the filter for an 08. The number is KN-204 instead of the filter that was on the bike which is KN-303. My question is would it be bad to run that filter? It is the same width, the same screw on pattern, same pattern on the inside of the filter but its about 1/2-3/4(somewhere in there) inch shorter than the 303.

This filter (KN-204) will reduce the overall oil capacity than the longer (KN-303) oil filter.
I'm not an engineer, but I'd opt for a bit more oil capacity, I'd go with what came with your bike, (KN-303).

I've been using short filters for years with no ill effect.

204 is about 9mm shorter to clear some exhausts. We've used them instead of the 303 for years with no issues.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah once I did a little searching I found out its only a little shorter to clear exhausts on the R1 and to clear the shifter linkage on the R6. Next change I'll probably get the correct one back on there but from what I see theres no red flags to not run this one.
