1) you are a little big for that bike
2) since a 250 can move through corners much faster than a bigger bike but obviously has nothing for the straight, you are going to be frustraighted as hell in B group since you can't pass in the corner with most organizations
Why not pick up a cheap R6 or similar (3-4k). Parts are plentiful

You'd be a lot happier with a 600 that's been put on a nice track only diet. It's all personal preference, but a 250 is ****ing slow. You have to learn to carry a ton of corner speed, which isn't bad, but the drive exiting corners will be painful. If you're looking for a budget, manageable racer, try an SV650. They have enough power to keep it plenty interesting and you can buy them for ninja 250 pricing.

*getting parts for any 600 at the place i stay is a bitch, not that it's going to be any easier for a 250 but the price factor is deep.
*no corner speed requirements at the track, this is basically an F1 circuit, I've asked the organisers there and they said a 250 is ok to use.
*an old 600 would be likely abused, trackdays arent a big part of the culture here, though it is growing...snail pace like..
A motard is cool, but wouldn't that be a different riding style compared to a regular sportsbike?
An SV650, I've never seen here...ever.
The idea on a picking a smaller bike was to hit the corners harder, so speed on the straights not very important.

Where is "here"? I've had an SV, 2 supermotos and a variety of other sportbikes. A supermoto would be hands down way better than a 250 sportbike. Faster, lighter, easier to ride. I don't much care for the DRZ400SM personally and wouldn't own one. The riding style is up to you. I ride them both the same way, some people prefer the foot out method, but on tarmac I don't think it's any better. The bottom line is this: a ninja 250 is slow, seriously slow. If you're used to riding a 600 it will feel like a moped. A 1000, a bicycle. They're kind of fun because of how little and flickable they are, but it's just too slow for my personal taste. I rode one recently with an exhaust, good tires and it was the new body style. I was shocked at how slow it was.
Ah, now I understand your predicament. My advice would be ride one before you give it any further serious consideration. Some people love them and my perspective is just one of many. 600cc race parts are plentiful and pretty cheap online. Shipping and importation may be tough, but just cover the bike in sliders and heavy duty engine cases, have spares and I bet you'll be ok.
I used to own a Ninja 250. Geared properly they are fun to ride and you're right parts are really cheap. However on the track you wouldn't be having fun. Also at the time I was about 120lbs and still looked like a gorilla trying to hump a watermelon. Get a cheap R6 and go for it. I have seen track prepped 600's local for under $2800

being where you are the 250 would suffice... it is easy to modify to go faster, but you learning corner speed will help you in any other area you ride on other bikes... besides I know plenty of guys who have taken the 250 rolling chassis and put a motard engine in them once they got bored with the 250... it is just a thought, but yeah the 250s are a ton of fun when there is a bunch of you all riding them.... it gets close to spec racing, you will see who has better riding skills..
