This is from red bull who is one of the major sponsors. I'm sure they got it right. They probably left off kers or drs to keep the comparison fair. F1 cars top speed vary based on kers, drs, rev limiters, etc. They listed their sources so nascar or someone doesn't file a suit for libel. It's at the bottom. Yes, F1 cars though can go much quicker for sure...I'm not sure where they got that number, but I bet it's to keep things fair they picked their average top speed for all tracks, or without aids that are not used during the entire race, etc. Hard to say for sure, but they surely can go faster

Something tells me an F1 driver would hop into a nascar and do just fine, but I don't think it would work the other way around very well LOL.

Plus the f1 pits stops now are as low as 2.4. A friend of mine suggested they're probably using numbers from when the had fuel also just to be fair.
Edit. I'm an idiot. I saw this a few days ago and I swear it had the f1 pit stop at 7 secs. This one has it right. Oops.

They had on BBC, Tony Stewart and Lewis Hamilton switch cars. They both loved the experience. It appeared as said, Lewis did better. Who woulda thought right

hahaha $7m per car is a very very very conservative estimate
although they have changed the construction material of the motors due to cost, rumour used to be you could easily lift the 3L v10 blocks over your head and hold them there....
Nice comparison though the COTA race was very cool to watch

If by covering the car completely in diamonds you could shave a second a lap the next race you'd see a very blingy Ferrari!! the race in Austin was the best F1 race of the year - well done yanks!!!

I could care less about thier top speeds. I'm more interested in acceleration / deceleration / cornering. Have you tried to race a nascar in gran turismo 5, its like driving a brick. Now the red bull X2012, I know just a video game .

I cant stand NASCAR. While both require a lot of talent, F1 is on a whole different level. I just cant help to be reminded of:

...I dont know how to embed in the forum. The embed code doesnt work. Its teh Jeff Dunham NASCAR skit

I doubt either could jump out of their car and into the others and be able to be close to the average lap times ran by the actual F1 or Nascar drivers. The weight would make the biggest difference. i think with time either they could both learn to run decently not saying Jimmie Johnson could match Lewis in F1 or vice versa.
As an example Juan Pablo has not been able to adjust form Indy, not same but close.
I am a fan of both Nascar and F1. Just really learning about F1 from the F1 2012 game. It is sick.

NASCAR is a different sport with a different strategy altogether. Hard to compare the two since NASCAR is virtually all oval races
