new to the forum. my first R1
hi guys, i recently bought a 09 R1 raven with akro slip on's. this is my first yamaha so i was wondering what you guys recomend that i should change or maintance on the bike. what oil brand? any performance modifications? thanks

Regardless of what anybody tells you, get used to the bike before enabling PRM.

thanks. excuse my noob knowledge but what do you mean prm? right now what im trying to figure out is what oil i should buy, since i want to put some fresh oil in the bike

Read the oil threads and pick a brand you like. Everyone has their favorite, and their favorite is the best.
Hell, pick a different brand with each change and decide what you like the best.

Welcome, check the oil threads like said,but any cycle specific (JASO MA rated) oil will be fine.

Welcome my friend...
Dont pay attention to some of these Turkeys. 
What you need to do since your new to the R1 is pretty much what you do to your car. Change the oil on time and keep up with the maintenance. After that just enjoy ur bike!
This is what i use:
Mobil 1 10W40 motor oil (pic below)
Mobil 1 M1-110 oil filter
Chain:
very time it looks dirty/dry i do this:
