Never complained about it, just made the observation that it is wicked loud.... ...observations are different than complaints....
And yes, warm tires are more fun
I am genuinely interested in what the plan might be to make it quieter....for future reference...

One thing to know about me. I'm a problem solver. If anyone can do it, I'm that guy.
That's the only reason I can charge the rates I do. Many times I get calls from other contractors who can't fix things. Referrals from the big names in the business are the best. It means a service charge, plus the top rate. Got one of those Friday. Gal called 6 companies to upgrade equipment. Nobody would even give her a price, let alone work on it. I gave her a price, fixed it in half the time and was nice enough to drop my price to half and still make damn good money.
3 weeks ago a local aviation college called to fix some lab equipment. Same deal. Electricians today are pathetic. I miss the old timers that know how to trouble shoot and fix things that aren't in the book. One of the last true techs retired this year. It's been good for me, that's for sure.

You and I are alike in that respect. When ever an instrument is acting up in my dept, I am the first person people run to to fix it. I am not afraid to open up the black box, fiddle around and make it work right or better.
In the lab, my advisor is always stunned when I can make something work from seemingly nothing, and just design something on the fly in my head and have it come out right most of the time on the first try.

I haven't helped him, I just explained what is required for ignition, he's going to be working on it for a long time I think.

Darwin should have gotten him a long time ago. A set of lawn darts when he was younger would have cleared his seed from the planet.

Simplest fix is to make a four sided box that goes over/around the generator. The bottom and one side are open, the top and other sides are closed off, with the exception of a couple of small vent holes. Face the opening away from you and it will deflect the noise down and away. I know some whom have put foam padding inside to help quiet it down. Or course, you wants enough gap between the box and generator to allow air flow and prevent heat buildup. Might not be possible with one mounted to a trailer.
I had a Honda eu2000i Generator with a 25 ft cord. I would put the generator at the front of my van and hardly hear it.
