On the plankers the stock airbox would still be the weak point, to get the full benefits of an updated ram air system would need to take a big look at the entire breathing system

Right now nobody really makes an airbox for the public. Unfortunately Bigger ram air tubes and a larger plenum is the best most of us can get our hands on

Yep which means custom airbox & fuel tank which starts to add serious $$
But realistically unless you are racing high WERA, BSB or AMA the stock airbox will do the trick... might be something for lacomoto to look into though..hint hint
And agree with the previous comments that tail section looks so good

if lacomoto came out with a better airbox for the plankers they'd fly off the shelves (assuming they were anywhere near reasonable on price)

Just smoothing out the airflow, perhaps larger intakes and a slight increase in volume if possible would be awesome. I had the same thing on my RC (large volume carbon airbox and intake) and it did wonders in both weight reduction and performance.

for sure that would help...my question was comparing what they were thinking to the sharkskinz kit stuff....that has larger intakes, full intake tubes, and a larger and smoother plenum

I can't count how many times you've mentioned that thing
There was a bit in Eddie Murphy Raw about kids getting McDonalds. Instead of eating it right there and then they went out into the street boasting loudly "I got McDonalds, I got McDonalds" while holding the burger in the sky.
That is you with that damn plenum

I'm asking because I'm curious...as to mentioning it, I only bring it up when people talk about plenums and how to or what they can do to modify them. There aren't many options

I hear ya, it's just funny how many different threads you've been plugging that thing. Is it made out of crack cocaine?
What we need is a different airbox.
