Pfft...minimum wage in Aus (in 1986) was $4.75 ph. I still managed to afford enough cheap alcohol to forget how shit the pay was!

And this is all you need to read out of that
“Wage mandates are an ineffective way to reduce poverty and cause restaurant operators to make very difficult decisions to eliminate jobs, cut staff hours or increase prices.”

Richard Adams, a McDonald's franchise adviser, told Reuters $15 an hour would be an "insane increase" that would add as much as $2 to the price of menu items.

McDonald's already is no longer "cheap" for the most part...let them up their items like that and business will sink as people will seak out better food for the same money.

Exactly, start making my burger worth $2 more before demanding to get paid more.

Cut half the employees and make the others pick up the slack, then pay them what they want. I bet attitudes would change pretty quickly.

can't do for the most part. Sometimes it is about warm bodies especially in the service industry. You can probably do that for the "Burger engineers"...but the "computer touch pad specialists" can only take one order at a time so you need several of them for customer service.

I know that, I was just making a point. Start being twice as efficient if you want more money

There is no way they could justify making a burger that much more, just wouldn't happen. I'm a burger snob anyway and don't go near that place

The problem with unskilled workers is this. 1) there are a lot of you, so supply/demand isn't on your side
2) You want to compare your pay to the CEO. There is 1 of him, 400,000 of you. So if he got paid $40M/year if they took ALL of his pay, it would amount to $100/year for each employee

That would cost McDonald's an extra 32,000,000 if everyone worked 40hrs a week. Since a lot of McDonald's franchises employ part time, I think a conservative number would be 16,000,000 per week. That's going off of 400,000 employees. Not sure how many McDonald's actually employs.

That's a substantial amount of money, also a small debt in the pockets of the big boys

Seriously...we can get a POUND of ground beef for $1.00 on sale if you don't want the super lean stuff.

so no I can't make 1 burger at home for $2...I can make probably 2 or 3. And that $2 was an INCREASE over what they already charge

Don't worry...our govt is trying to equal everything out so we will all end up poor and everything will cost a lot here as well....just give us some time.
