The first pic is you know who's Sharkskinz SBK kit and the second pic is... they just dont look the same to me.
There's a great article about it in this months Roadracing World.

We've got a detective in the house

And sharkskinz is on at least it's 3rd version of the 09+ kit. They are allowed to make revisions aren't they?

Yes they can but the kit Graves runs is Yamaha spec from their WSBK bike. Yamaha holds all rights and you can only get that kit straight from Graves just like YEC. Sharskinz can NOT sell this kit directly. You also can't use the oem gas tank or subframe. This came straight from Shane and Chuck's mouth. I know people that have talked to them about it. Chris' kit may be the one that was run several years ago but it's not even close to the version they ran this year.

I absolutely agree. They [hayes] changed a few things on the bike lately. It's by no means the latest and greatest version [chris's]. I dig what they did with the new tail, but idk if I'm sold on the new upper fairing. Looks a little odd to me

But you are correct

Won't have to worry about it next year as AMA stated the rule changes will probably make it illegal next year. According to the article the "reshaped intakeson the nose of Josh Hayes' YZF-R1 racebike feature internal molding and a scoop on the outside edge to maximize the ram-air effect." The same fairing had been used at a few World Superbike events in 2009, before World Superbike tech officials banned it for not resembling the bodywork on the streetbike.

We did a front fairing for the spanish championship the work very well...gave the bike 8 kmh more!
But they didnt alowe it because the mesures of the RAM air was from the wsbk championship....but based on my experience, the M1 RAM air work even better, because we create a bigger and better air flow!
Maybe it should be something for yamaha to think about in the future....
the R1 is a greath bike, but it only works in championships that alow a great deal of changes.
Like the AMA,WSBK and BSBK...
In more "stock" championships, the bike is not competitive, and its very expensive to make it competitive...
Thats one of the reasons that yamaha let go the WSBK project.
The engine by it self is very hevy!
Its one of the crossplane disadvanteges.

Sharkskinz won't even tell you how to install or what it takes to fit them. "We are given specs from Graves and we make them" But I don't know people that talk to sharkskinz, Shane, and Chuck. I talk to them directly.

Someone posted you can get it from sharkskinz individually ($250 iirc)...RD could get it I'm sure. As for any gains from it?? I saw a little difference in the fuel map but I have the Superbike front and intake tubes as well...I'm not sure you'd see much if any difference to be honest.

I've got the sharkskinz upper and would order this with the tubes... But if its not worth it ill pass and upgrade brake rotors instead.

Is that you in the 2nd pic Chris?
