No one currently living in Cali actually believes that he or she is supporting some type of higher-class emporium of fags who further drink lattes and sit on dildos. I'm actually agreeing with one thing you're saying; something must be done. I'm not agreeing that we all leave california and head for the hills.

The article in this thread said that the representative told some people that he thought there should be some type of control as to how much influence big businesses are allowed to have concerning the media. It said NOTHING about controlling free speech.

Oh and since you wanna act like a 3 year old and throw insults:

You're probably taking it up the @ss right now, believing that you're the next iconoclast f*cking Neo from the Matrix. Get a life.
I think one of the things that would make sense to me is if you dont believe like the 80% of your state why dont you move to a state where there are like minded people where you know your vote is actually going to make a difference.

Okay, now we're starting to get to the meat of it.

California is not some socialist, communist state where the big bad senator rules over his subjects. Get that through your thick skull. Yes, California suffers from a seemingly continuous onslaught of f*cking morons to run it, but the day that our nation devolves into separate nation-states and FEMA starts warming up the 'ol spotlight generators is the day that f*cking Chesty Puller and George Washington rise from their graves and have a dick-measuring contest.

Now about the taxes, I agree there. But people aren't simply gonna up and move from California (for many reasons, the least of which being that many simply don't have the means) and on top of that, I think the public would go nuts if things got much worse.

People don't just live in a state because they think it's gonna give them a better chance to make their vote more meaningful during the once-every-four-years presidential election.

People NEED to go nuts, burn the place to the ground. Be done with it. The looters outnumber the burdened there and anyone willing to continue to support them should suffer for their willingness to serve the hive mentality. Darwin needs to start earning his keep on the left coast.

Man are you guys harsh on California. Saph, the state of California is run by morons because they're supported and given exposure by the big business and the media. Popularity contests are not exclusive nor is it the exception. This congressman is taking a the wrong approach towards a valid point that we all here seem to agree on. McCain made a much better point.

My point is if a person dont agree with whats going on in their state, they have the freedom to do something about it, instead of living in a liberal place.

Okay, but there are a LOT of people who don't have that option!!! The poor and hopeless middle-class don't have the option!!! You guys aren't getting that. So many people here in California don't have a way to get out of the state. I would love to move somewhere nicer. Can I? F*CK no. Life sucks, and then you die.

I swear to god though, I will be leaving this hell hole as soon as I get done with college...

no one said you have to move to a place that is literally nicer thats a part of being an adult is sucking it up and settling for whats within your means. I am in that hopeless middle class range. I live within my means, I save for what I want and I work my ass off for what I want. My parents didnt spoon feed me, they didnt give me what I wanted, I grew up with the thought that if you want something or think something is done be proactiv and do something about it.

You're so sad. I feel so terrible for you. If I had known you were this pathetic, I wouldn't have dignified this terrible thread with any kind of intelligent response.

Ahhh yes, the ol' life-experienced college student idealist who has wisdom far beyond those who are packing 20 or 30 more years of reality.

Nothing is ever going to change if you are willing to make excuses for why nobody can "get out". Whether it's California, Compton, their block, their job at McDonalds, whatever..... you go ahead and keep helping them blame everybody else and being defeatists so they feel better about not making any effort or sacrifice whatsoever to "get out". Here's a newsflash: You have to WORK for it. That doesn't mean your employment (specifically), nor does it mean just showing up at work and expecting a check because you're there. It's unfortunate that this country has put so many self-entitled incompetent idiots in places of power, then chose to idolize them and adopt their philosophy, because they are only counting on the poor masses to keep them in power by playing into their defeatism with rally cries of "tax the rich", "affordable health care", "mortgage relief", "welfare", etc. If the masses ever got up one morning and decided 'today's the day.... I'm gonna bust my ass at work, I'm gonna get a second job, I'm gonna be financially responsible, I'm gonna love my family to death... etc....' the people who are relying on them to stay in the sheot hole would crap themselves. Do you have the balls to put an "X" brand on the forehead of everybody with crap on themselves, or are you gonna take the whiny puss approach and make excuses for them, too.

You know what? The Bush tax cuts were never funded in the first place. I'm so tired of hearing whiny, bitchy, sore loser, Republicans, bitch and moan about this increase for $250k + folks that I'd just rather see the Bush tax cuts eradicated altogether. They were never funded in the first place and were signed into law WITH a shelf life. They were never supposed to be indefinite. The big bitch of "tax the rich" is being over-exaggerated anyway. It's going up like what a whopping 3% if it were to happen? Shit, let's start a got damn revolt over a 3% increase and in reality it's not an increase at all. What it is, is their little discount has fvcking expired. Strange how people seem to stay in a bubble and forget the facts. I'd say to those that don't like this "Increase" that you can continue to have your discount when the gov't figures out how to pay for that discount. And since they never figured that out to begin with when Bush signed them into law, for any of the discounts, not just for the 250k and above folks, then they all need to be yanked.

We had debt problems before Obama, and before Bush. We need spending cuts and tax increases, only way it's ever going to go down. Take away the Bush tax cuts altogether and we still pay the least taxes of any westernized country in the world. The wealthy are paying historic lows of Tax % in our country and would continue to be historic lows if their rates were raised for 250k and above. So if the POTUS gets his way and gets this pushed through, those individuals making those sums, and above, would still be paying record lows.

As far as healthcare, I'd definitely like to see the costs come under control. Yet another news story last night on 60 minutes detailed a hospital conglomerate completely fvcking their patients over running up costs, computer systems triggering unnecessary tests and those employees (doctors or administrators) who didn't comply were fired. The medical realm has gotten over the top ridiculous. Just like 20k toilet seats that the gov't pays for, they'll charge you $20 for an aspirin and the like. It's all private sector currently (Romneycare doesn't kick in for a year) so how do you get them to move towards reality? I'm talking costs. How do you do that? For example, I'm paying $500 a month now for it, just for myself, and just got hit with pre existing conditions so I can't see my specialist until May unless I want to pay 100% out of pocket. My pre existing condition is eczema, and it's minor. What if it was cancer, IE something severe? Healthcare costs do need some intervention. I don't think Romneycare is the greatest solution but it sure does eliminate pre existing conditions.

America has become a business in every facet of American life. You wake up in the morning and flip on a light switch, you are paying a corp. Take a shower before work? You are paying the gas corp. or the electricity corp. America is a business today and that is all it is. The sad reality. We aren't a nation of people holding hands, we are all stuck in a business, and it's every man for himself. Any attempt to make things fair, balanced, anything like that, is met with anger and hostility.

Im sick of hearing morons talk about "funding tax cuts"

Why the fvck should they be "funded" that makes the assumption that all the money is the governments in the first place.

Its our money not the governments. To assume all tax cuts need to be funded is assuming all the money is the governments to begin with

Ding Ding Ding.

It wreaks of "You didn't build that". The whole perception is backwards. Without business, the government wouldn't exist. Not the other way around.
